I’m back for another monthly ReadAThon guide! Let’s get into this!
At the moment I am only planning on doing the Duodecathon. If I am going to participate I will do a TBR before that ReadAThon before it starts.
I am predicting before searching that most of these will be Halloween themed.
This ReadAThon occurs every month and each month there is a different focus on what to read.
So this ReadAThon has 2 parts, first, there is the theme. So the idea is to try and read books related to that theme and then there are the challenges, they are an extra challenge. I am not sure whether you have to try and find a challenge that fits into that month theme or whether you just read two separate books for each.
HERE is a link to their Goodreads page
This ReadAThon happens every month so here are all the future challenges in case you wanted to plan!
2-8 October: LGBTQIA+ Books
Challenge: Read Poetry & Short Stories
6-12 November: New to you authors
Challenge: Read A Duology
4-10 December: 2017 Debuts
Read the last book (or books) you bought
This ReadAThon also is every month. This one has 12 options for challenges that you can pick from and the idea of this is that you participate every month and by the end of the year you will have done them all.
You can find info and join the Goodreads group HERE.
For August there are 2 ReadAThon dates and I’m assuming that is because there wasn’t a ReadAThon date for January. I will only be participating in one and that will be the 11-17 one.
UPCOMING DATES:
October 7-13
November 22-28
December 25-31
CHALLENGES TO PICK FROM:
Read 1,200 pages
Start OR finish a series
A 2017 debut author
A short story
A Graphic Novel
A Non-Fiction book
A Book that has been on your TBR for 2+ years
A book with multiple authors
A book you picked up because of the cover
A book that has to do with travelling
Someone else’s favourite book
The first book on your shelf you have read
So this isn’t a ReadAThon is like a MovieAThon. But I thought I would put it in anyway.
So this is on the 28th of October and you just watch along with everyone participating.
You can find the movie list HERE along with the link for where you can watch on the day.
So for this one each round of the ReadAThon you have to read books or authors (first or last) starting with a certain letter.
For this month the letter is D.
This round the ReadAThon goes from the 23rd of October to 29th of October.
You can find their Twitter HERE and their blog post HERE!
This one is exactly how it sounds! You have 24 Hours to read as much as possible. What’s unique about this book is that this ReadAThon starts at the same time worldwide rather than at a certain time in your time zone.
And you know what else is super cool? The October ReadAthon marks the 10 year anniversary of the event!
In October it is happening on the 21st.
To find out what time the ReadAThon starts for you then go HERE and it will tell you so you don’t have to figure it out.
There is also a 30 Days of ReadAThon challenge going on for the 10 year anniversary and you can find more info HERE!
And you can find their Twitter HERE.
So this is being run by Empty Shelfie. This is a month long ReadAThon where there are 7 reading challenges. You can complete as many as you like though. The only rule to this ReadAThon is you must read books you already own or have checked out of the library. The idea of this ReadAThon is exactly as the name suggests, to empty your shelves. So you can’t go out and buy a book specifically for any of the challenges. That is also why they don’t say that you have to complete all the challenges because you just may not have a book that fits that challenges already on your shelf. Oh, and btw any eBook & audiobooks you own count too!
So there is also a whole lot more going on in the month of October for the Spookie Shelfie such as Instagram challenges, BookTube challenges, Movie WathALongs, Reading Sprints & Author Pep Talks. There are also going to be prizes for some things and the prizes will be ‘spookie’ themed.
You can watch the announcement video HERE. It’s not the best quality video when it comes to audio and I had trouble understanding some of what was said, so check out HarbackHoarder’s announcement video. She is one of the hosts and explains it really well. You can also find the Reading challenges announcement video HERE! Again the video is kinda bad audio quality so I watched Libri Labra’s TBR video and got the challenges from there. She is one of the hosts so I’m assuming they are correct haha. You can find her video HERE if you want to watch it. Their YouTube Channel HERE! Their Twitter HERE! Their Goodreads HERE!

There is also a month long Instagram challenge which is being put up on Kayla’s Instagram: BooksandLala. It is not up currently I don’t think (well I couldn’t find it), so follow her so you don’t miss it.
Okay, so I think that is all. But as always if you know any other ReadAThons happening in October then please comment or tag me in it on Twitter!
These sound super fun. I will probably pass on the spooky ones but I love the 24 hr readathon and have always wanted to participate.

Yeah I’ll be passing on the spooky ones too. We don’t really celebrate Halloween here and I’m honestly tired of hearing about it and it is still over a month away! 😫
And I might be participating in Dewey’s it will just depend on work and such. If most of my 24 hours is going to be taken up by work and sleep then I won’t bother. But if I’m not working then I will definitely participate.

Yeah I’m glad it’s on a Saturday so I won’t be at work, otherwise I definitely couldn’t have participated

I think they always try and make it Saturday for that reason. Hopefully I’ll be able to join.
