Even though I don’t like covers with people on them I do like this one. For most books, the reason I don’t like people on the cover is mostly because I like to be able to imagine what the characters look like and half the time the person on the cover doesn’t even fit the description, which I cannot stand! But as we already know what Wonder Woman looks like it didn’t bother me in this case.

I really enjoy Leigh Bardugo’s writing. I have only read 2 of her books, this one & Shadow and Bone and I enjoyed the writing on both. The only thing I struggled with was the all of the gods and stuff like that. I don’t know a heap about mythology so that was a tad confusing but not bad.

Going into the book I thought this was kinda going to be a typical superhero type story but it was so much more than that. There were plenty of twists and turns in this book and I wasn’t expecting any of them.

I really enjoyed Diana! She was such an interesting character and I loved seeing her in the modern world. It was just so funny her experiencing new things and her reactions to things that are normal to us. And of course, she was brave, selfless and badass. We knew that was going to be the case obviously!

Alia was also an enjoyable character but I didn’t love her as much as Diana. She was a little dramatic sometimes and it was slightly annoying but in the end she was a good character. She was strong and would do whatever it took to stop the war even if it meant sacrificing herself.

Jason, Alia’s brother, I did not enjoy even before we actually met him. Just from Alia describing him I didn’t like him. He was controlling, selfish and treated his sister like crap. And also the romance is bullshit. Absolutely hated it. I’m not a romance fan, to begin with, but this was horrible.

Theo was a little annoying at the start. His humour at the start is just not what I enjoy. But overall I did enjoy him!

Nim I also enjoyed. She was smartass and funny as and I loved it. I also love that she is diverse! She is lesbian and her reaction to Diana was really funny too!

Overall I really enjoyed this book! I loved the characters, well except Jason. The plot was really well done and so unpredictable. The writing was really good too even though I had a bit of trouble with the mythology aspects as they were a bit confusing. I really wish there was going to be an actual sequel to this book. It’s obviously part of a series but the next book will be a companion more than an actual sequel I’m guessing as it’s about Batman.
