So for me the Duodecathon finished 12 hours ago at midnight last night. I will do updates day by day and then an overall at the end. I was updating daily on my instagram story but not all of you saw that, so here is what happened!
I was aiming for the challenge Read 1,200 pages but I also completed the Start OR finish a series challenge too.
Firstly you can find my full TBR/Possible reads for this HERE. And if you have looked at that post you will notice The Darkest Minds was on my TBR, however I actually got to reading that before the ReadAThon started.
Day 1:
So before the ReadAThon I had already started The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater on Audiobook. For pages for that book I just grabbed my hardcover and put little sticky tabs in it at what chapter I was up to so I could keep track.
Then on Day 1 I started the 20th Anniversary Gryffindor Hardback edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone with it’s extra pages of info at the start and back!
The Raven Boys: 24 Pages
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: 264 Pages
Day 2:
On Day 2 I finished Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and started the Illustrated Edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: 91 Pages
The Raven Boys: 40 Pages
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: 120 Pages
Day 3:
Day 3 I finished the Illustrated Edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: 139 Pages
The Raven Boys: 45 Pages
Day 4:
I started The Secret Science of Magic by Melissa Keil but because I was busy most of the day and not at home I didn’t read any of The Raven Boys audiobook.
The Secret Science of Magic: 176 Pages
Day 5:
On Day 5 I finished The Secret Science of Magic!
The Secret Science of Magic: 137 Pages
The Raven Boys: 53 Pages
Day 6:
On Day 6 I started Akarnae by Lynette Noni & also finished The Raven Boys audiobook!
With Akarnae I am reading it on the Kindle App and it gives you how many ‘Loc’ you’re up to which is like pages numbers but as I’m reading it on my iPad there is 5901 Loc. So obviously I’m not going to use that number for this challenge otherwise I would have finished the 1,200 page challenges just by reading a quarter of this book. So what I did was use the percentages and figure out about what page number I read using the page count of the Hardcover edition on GoodReads. So for Akarnae the pages are an estimate not exact but I read plenty over my goal so it’s fine if the count is a little off.
Akranae: 109 Pages
The Raven Boys: 36 Pages
Day 7:
So on Day 7 I was pretty busy so I didn’t get too much done. The pages I read of Akarnae were done between 12 & 2am but then I didn’t read anymore of it after that I started The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater on Audiobook when I was writing my Unboxing post yesterday. I had intended to read more of Akarnae last night but I went out for dinner with my Dad and our neighbour as it is my birthday on the 2nd of July and I was intending to come home with them and then read some more before the midnight end of the ReadAThon but I ended up staying at the pub as I met up with a few friends up there and I didn’t get home till about 2:30 in the morning after the Pub closed haha. So yeah I didn’t get anymore reading done yesterday.. But I had a good night so I’m not complaining in the slightest!
Akarnae: 74 Pages
The Dream Thieves: 27 Pages
Overall:
So overall I finished 3 books from start to finish. I finished 1 book that was already part way through & I started 2 books.
Total Pages Read: 1,335
Start OR finish a series: Both The Raven Boys & Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone are the start of a series. So they could both go towards that challenge!
Next month:
July 19-25
As this month was only my first month participating I want to catch up. If you don’t know this ReadAThon works a bit different to most. At the start of the year they release 12 challenges and each month you pick a different challenge so then by the end of the 12 months you have completed all 12 of the challenges.
So here are all the challenges!
Read 1,200 pages
Start OR finish a series
A 2017 debut author
A short story
A Graphic Novel
A Non-Fiction book
A Book that has been on your TBR for 2+ years
A book with multiple authors
A book you picked up because of the cover
A book that has to do with travelling
Someone else’s favourite book
The first book on your shelf you have read
The ones in bold I have completed. So for next month I am going to try and get at least 2 done and if I do it that way I will get them all done by the end of the year!
So for next month I want to try and use books I already have to finish 2 challenges. I will do a proper TBR closer to the ReadAThon but as I’m look at my shelves I could do the A book with multiple authors challenge with These Broke Starts by Meagan Spooner and Amie Kaufman. Also for the on your TBR for 2+ years challenge I will be choosing a book that wasn’t actually on my physical TBR for 2+ years as I do have 4 books that match that but 3 of them I never intend to read and the last is actually the third or something book in a series and I bought it years ago and didn’t realise as there is nothing on the cover to indicate that. So I instead I want to read The Hobbit for that one as even though it’s not on my physical TBR I have wanted to read it since the first movie came out a few years ago.
Well that is all for my Wrap Up and also some extra info about next months ReadAThon!
This looks like it was really fun!!
