Let’s chat about the books I am highly anticipating for September through December 2021! Some of these may have already released in September but I will also be including them!
7th Sept

The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
The Hawthorne Legacy is book 2 to The Inheritance Games which I read last year and really enjoyed! I rated book 1 4.5 stars and you can check out my review HERE if you were interested. I can’t wait to get my hands on this one! I need to know the answers to soo many questions! I will probably do a reread of book 1 on audiobook before I jump into this one just as a recap. It’s been close to a year since I read it and there is so many little details that you have to keep track of in order to solve this mystery. So I want a refresh for sure! Highly recommend book 1 if you are looking for an intense mystery that will keep you on your toes!

The Last Legacy by Adrienne Young
Is Book 3 on my most anticipated when I haven’t even read book 2? Ahhhh yep! Do I plan to reread book 1 & binge the series? Ahhh yep! Book 1, Fable, was amazing & I have been putting off reading book 2, Namesake, till The Last Legacy comes out! I will be ordering a copy very soon & will probably try and read the series in October or November! The series is a YA fantasy that starts with a girl attempting to escape and island her father abandoned her on! This is a really vivid world with some very intriguing magical abilities!

Defy the Night by Brigid Kemmerer
How absolutely stunning is this cover though?? I would have been sold even if it wasn’t from an author I have loved before! I’ve only read the Cursebreakers series by Brigid Kemmerer but I loved it! The other books she’s written just haven’t sounded like something up my alley but this one definitely does. This seems to be another retelling. You may know that Cursebreakers was a loose Beauty in the Beast retelling which I think she did really well with considering the Beauty & the Beast story definitely isn’t a favourite for me! Defy the Night appears to be a Robin Hood retelling which I’m very keen for.

White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson
I honestly know nothing about this besides it’s marked as a YA Psychological Thriller with a dark horror vibe! Which I was sold. Not the mention this cover is gorgeous! I’ve also got 2 other Tiffany D Jackson on my TBR, so why not add another? I think I will be more likely to pick this one up though as it’s a thriller and the others are contemporary. This is a little more up my alley but I am keen for all of them! This is one I will probably pick up soon, as I am really in a mystery thriller mood lately! So very keen.
21st Sept

All These Bodies by Kendare Blake
Another one I know nothing about? Yesss! I am very curious about this one! I’ve read and enjoyed the first 2 books in Three Dark Crowns series but this is the authors (I believe) first mystery thriller! So I’m curious to see how her writing will adapt for a thriller novel. As I have said I’m in a huge mystery/thriller mood. So this is perfect for me! The first 3 lines are making me super interested too!
Sixteen bloodless bodies. Two teenagers. One impossible explanation.

Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson
Dark, mysterious & full of adventure? How amazing does Vespertine sound? Sorcery of Thorns was such a unique premise & Margaret Rogerson did not disappoint with bringing that world & story to life! Her writing was vivid & captivating. I am hoping Vespertine will be just as amazing reading experience! Also who else is loving the dark vibes of this cover? It’s definitely starting to feel like the spooky season with these October releases! I’ve already pre-ordered this one through Fairyloot as they had an absolutely stunning edition available! While I loved the normal cover the Fairyloot edition with no dust jacket & a beautiful foiled deign + sprayed edges was calling my name! You definitely need to go check it out on their instagram!
12th Oct

The Gilded Cage by Lynette Noni
Lynette Noni? Of course this is on the list! She is an auto buy author at this point. The Gilded Cage is the 2nd book to The Prison Healer which I read and loved earlier this year! The Prison Healer ended on a HUGE cliff hanger and I am very impatiently waiting for this one to release because I have some questions I need answers for! I’ve already ordered the Fairyloot edition of this one to match my edition of The Prison Healer but I will probably order the paperback version as well so I don’t have to wait for the Fairyloot one to arrive! I’m so freaking excited.
19th Oct

The Ghost Tracks by Celso Hurtado
On an unrelated to note I just realised this is labelled as Horror, not Thriller so I won’t be able to use it for the Thriller or Mystery challenge of Magical ReadAThon! In my head I was thinking this was thriller. ANYWAY I already have an eARC of this one through NetGalley and I’m very excited to start it! I’m hoping sometime in September if I can fit it in a Bookopoly ReadAThon! This one features a 17 year old that starts a supernatural detective agency which is literally all I needed to know!
9th Nov

Aurora’s End by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
The quote at the top of this book cover basically sums up my thoughts on this one!
It’s about time.
Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
Aurora’s End is the last book in The Aurora Cycle which is an amazing sci-fi series full of twists & turns. I don’t think I need to say a tonne about this one because if you haven’t at least heard of Aurora Rising, what rock have you been living under? I’ve very keen & I think I might do a reread of the first 2 before jumping into this one so I can have the full effect! I’m very excited!

All of us Villains by Amanda Foody & Christine Lynn Herman
Holy f*ck am I keen for this book!! This is probably my most highly anticipated on this list. I have been impatiently awaiting this ones release for months and I am so keen we are finally a couple months away! I absolutely adore Amanda Foody & Christine Lynn Herman’s writing so this combo is just amazing! Amanda Foody write super complex & very unique dark stories & Christine Lynn Herman writes gripping dark stories with amazing character development & world building! Is this a match made in dark heaven? I think so!
16th Nov

The Nobleman’s Guide to Scandal and Shipwrecks by Mackenzi Lee
A hugely diverse historical fiction series with pirates? Yes thank you! I absolutely loved the first two books in this series. Not only do we have a badass female major character and amazingly diverse cast of characters we also have a gripping adventure story! There are so many elements of this series that I adore & I’m very keen to see where book 3 takes this story. I have not read ANYTHING about the contents of this one but I’m pretty sure this one follows Monty’s brother. I’m keen to read from another POV in this series! I’m hoping Felicity will be present in the story as she is amazing!
30th Nov

You’ll Be the Death of Me by Karen M. McManus
Another Karen M. McManus?! To be honest I didn’t even know this was a thing until I started doing the research for this post. She pumps out some books this one! I have really enjoyed every Karen M. McManus book I’ve read. So of course I am keen for this! Karen M. McManus is definitely at auto buy author at this point! I’ve got this one in my cart as I want to try and grab the first paperback editions which usually have sprayed edges. I’m assuming this one will to hopefully! I do love the hardcover covers of her books more but I like all the paperbacks with the matching sprayed edges too! Decisions!!!
7th Dec

Did this one catch my eye because the authors name is the same as mine? sure did! Did it also sound really good? sure did! This is literally the only book I could find that I’m super keen for in December! I haven’t read any other books by this author yet but I saw it on NetGalley, and as I said the name interested me so I read the synopsis and it sounds right up my alley! Our main character is caretaker to a house where a famous poet once lived who supposedly committed suicide many years ago. A storm hits & part of the house collapses revealing the remains of a woman! How creepy but curious does that sound? I’m very intrigued!
Well that is all the books I want to talk about right now! Let me know in the comments what your most anticipated releases is!

I can´t wait for All These Bodies, Aurora´s End and All of Us Villains!
