This is my guide for the Read-A-Thons happening in July I will post the next one at the end of July for August!
At the moment I am only planning on doing the Duodecathon. If I am going to participate I will do a TBR before the ReadAThon.
This ReadAThon occurs every month and each month there is a different focus on what to read.
So this ReadAThon has 2 parts, first, there is the theme. So the idea is to try and read books related to that theme and then there are the challenges, they are an extra challenge. I am not sure whether you have to try and find a challenge that fits into that month theme or whether you just read two separate books for each.
HERE is a link to their Goodreads page
This ReadAThon happens every month so here are all the future challenges in case you wanted to plan!
7-13 August: Childhood Favourites
Challenge: Marathon a Series
4-10 September: Standalones
Challenge: One Word Titles
2-8 October: LGBTQIA+ Books
Challenge: Read Poetry & Short Stories
6-12 November: New to you authors
Challenge: Read A Duology
4-10 December: 2017 Debuts
Read the last book (or books) you bought
This ReadAThon also is every month. This one has 12 options for challenges that you can pick from and the idea of this is that you participate every month and by the end of the year you will have done them all.
You can find info and join the Goodreads group HERE.
For August there are 2 ReadAThon dates and I’m assuming that is because there wasn’t a ReadAThon date for January. I will only be participating in one and that will be the 11-17 one.
UPCOMING DATES:
August 1-7 or 11-17
September 18-24
October 7-13
November 22-28
December 25-31
CHALLENGES TO PICK FROM:
Read 1,200 pages
Start OR finish a series
A 2017 debut author
A short story
A Graphic Novel
A Non-Fiction book
A Book that has been on your TBR for 2+ years
A book with multiple authors
A book you picked up because of the cover
A book that has to do with traveling
Someone else’s favourite book
The first book on your shelf you have read
So for this one each round of the ReadAThon you have read books or authors (first or last) starting with a certain letter.
For this month the letter is C.
This round the ReadAThon goes from the 31st of July to 6th of August.
You can find their Twitter HERE and their blog post HERE!
This is more of a casual ReadAThon, there are no challenges to complete, you are just asked to try and read more than you usually would! However, there is reading sprints held on their Twitter which you can find HERE and use the hashtag #boutofbooks to talk about the ReadAThon! Also, you can find all the info you need on their blog HERE.
This ReadAThon goes from the 21st to the 27th of August.
So as you can probably guess with this one, you attempt to read for 24 hours of the 48 hours the ReadAThon runs for. There are no specific reading challenges for this one.
You can find their Twitter HERE!
Dates and sign up are not yet released! So go follow their Twitter to stay up to date if you’re interested in this one!
For this one, the aim is to read 7 things in 7 days. This ReadAThon only happens once a year during August. There are no challenges besides to read 7 books and those books can be any length and any format.
This year the ReadAThon goes from 14th to the 20th of August.
Find their Twitter HERE!
So there isn’t a tonne of info about this ReadAThon except for a little bit on the creators Goodreads page. But what I can gather is every month the creator releases 3 challenges and you can either pick one or do all 3! The main challenge though is that you have to only use books you already own! You can’t buy a book that fits the challenges you have to find a book you already own to complete 1 or more challenges!
This challenge goes all month!
HERE is their Twitter Page.
You can also find their Goodreads Group HERE! This group also has ReadAlongs going on all the time.
August Challenges haven’t been posted yet! Go join their Goodreads group and follow their Twitter if you’re interested in this one!
So this is a bit of a unique ReadAThon. How this one works is you look at the books you already own, whether that be physical or eBooks. Then you choose some books, the amount of books you grab is based on the amount that you think you could read in a week and then you grab a couple more than that number as you will need options (Just keep reading to understand. So for example, if you think you can read 3 books in a week then actually choose 5 or 6 books. With those books, you then post a TBR on a platform whether that be a blog, twitter or Instagram and get your friends to vote and then you read the books in the order of how many votes they got until the ReadAThon finishes.
This ReadAThon goes from August 6th until August 13th and starts at midnight in your timezone!
You can find all the information on the two hosts pages and also vote for what they might be reading! The first host is Val @ The Innocent Smiley & the second is Ely @ Tea & Titles.
So this one is a Twitter ReadAThon and you can find their Twitter HERE! This is a week long ReadAThon with reading challenges.
This ReadAThon goes from the 7th to the 13th of August!
Reading Challenges are yet to be posted. Go ahead and follow their Twitter so you don’t miss that update!
So this one is a more chill ReadAThon and the only challenge is to read books that you have owned for at least a year! This one is great to get to those books you have had forever and get them off your TBR!
This ReadAThon goes from the 1st to the 15th of August, so this is one of the longer ReadAThons, but still a chill ReadAThon.
You can find their Twitter HERE!
So this one is fairly self-explanatory, you read as many Roald Dahl books as you can in a week!
This ReadAThon goes from the 1st to the 7th of August
You can find their Twitter HERE!
This is a new ReadAThon that is starting in August! This ReadAThon is run by Chelsea @ AVeryBookishGirl, Amanda @ ACourtOfBooksAndLove & Jessica @ JessicaMarie493.
So the point of this ReadAThon is to thin out your TBR pile!
You can also find their Twitter HERE and their Goodreads group HERE!
The Rules & Challenges are directly copied from Jessica’s Announcement post.
Rules:
– You will have the entire month to read these books.
– The goal is to complete 6 challenges!
– You can double up on challenges. In other words, you can use one book for two different challenges!
– So you only have to read 3 books in a month to completely finish the readathon! Easy!
So you choose 6 challenges out of the following to complete in the month!
Challenges:
– Read a 2017 release
– Read a 2017 release
– Read a book that is the same color (or a similar color) as your birthstone
– Read a diverse book
– Read a book with a title or author with the same first letter as the first letter in your first name (the words “a” and “the” don’t count)
– Read a book that is related to your favorite emoji
– Read a book starting with a letter from TBR (the word “the” doesn’t count)
– Read a book with a summer themed cover

This ReadAThon is really chill and I think I might be joining in on this one myself! I love that they give a lot of options for the challenges rather than a specific 6 when we are only meant to use books we already own.
This ReadAThon is run by Samantha @ Thoughts on Tomes on YouTube. You can find her Announcement video & TBR HERE!
This ReadAThon goes for 2 weeks from Midnight on August 4th till 11:59 on August 17th (in your time zone).

So this is an awesome 24 hour Harry Potter inspired ReadAThon! Firstly, you don’t have to read Harry Potter books for the ReadAThon, just to clear that up. This ReadAthon has video & photo challenges which will be posted
This ReadAthon has video & Instagram challenges which will be held between the 15th – 18th of August, so the 3 days before the ReadAThon starts! I love this idea as I personally don’t like to be worrying about challenges and stuff during a 24 hour ReadAThon where you are just trying to read as much as possible! If you participate in either the Video or Instagram challenges then you go in the draw to win $15 from either BookOutlet or Book Depository!
There is also a Hogwarts House Event where you can win points for your house! And it is already going on! So check out the YouTube video announcement to see how to win points!
There is also going to be Twitter sprints on the 18th! You can find their Twitter HERE!
Date: 18th (From 12 midnight to 11:59pm in your time zone)
This ReadAThon is essential for the book blogging community!
So this ReadAThon is also a Bingo card! So this is a chill ReadAThon, there are 24 challenges but you can complete as many lines as you want! So the minimum is 4 books (if you use the ‘free space’ square in the middle) but you can also challenge yourself!
Dates: 25th August – 1st September
You can find the original post HERE which has all the info about the bingo card! You can find more info, including bloggers who will be holding games during the ReadAThon and also what you need to do to join HERE!

This is a very helpful list. I had no idea that many readathons are happening next month. You didn’t mention TomeTopple readathon, though.

Thanks! I will add it on tonight. Because I’m participating in Duodecathon, BookTubeAThon & Biannual Bibliothon I wrote this post about a week ago and scheduled it. I went through every link I had to see which ones were saying they had one going in August and at that point Tome Topple hadn’t said anything.
I also double checked them all last night to double check I didn’t miss any new updates but between then and now they must have posted their video. 😂

I love these monthly round-ups! I may do Tome Topple again, as I ended up really enjoying it last time! I’ll have to do some research on my TBR to see what tomes I have that fit the challenges! I’m also going to do Bout of Books because it’s one of my favorites!

I did Tome Topple sometimes last year, I remember I didn’t read a Tonne but I had fun!
And that’s awesome I don’t know which ones I will be doing yet except Duodecathon!
Happy Reading.
