I’m going to start off by saying that this series is trash & all the male characters are horrendous (except Kai) but it’s FUCKING ADDICTING. I don’t know what drugs Penelope Douglas puts in her writing but they work… At the moment I’ve only read the first two and if the rest of the series hadn’t been made unavailable on Everand (previously known as Scribd) because I’d read too much this month I would have continued the series.

I’ve been staring at this screen for a solid 10 minutes trying to figure out how the hell to review this… This is probably not going to be my best work but just go with me here.

Let’s start with the pros overall for the series so far. It’s addicting. I was hooked. Was I disgusted most of the time? Yes. But I was invested.

Now Pros for Corrupt specifically, if you like filthy smut then I will admit the smut is written well. And yes, that’s all the positives I have. Moving on.

Pros for Hideaway, we have a few more. I actually started enjoying Kai’s character more and more in this one. This one definitely wasn’t as fucked up as Corrupt and I did actually enjoy the plot and the kinda mystery going on. I was interested and I enjoyed the characters enough to want to root for them. I’m hoping the series continues to go up from here but I’m assuming the next book will be following another character and I’m nervous about that.

Now onto Cons for Corrupt. This was fucked up. The absolutely horrors they put Rikka through is just disgusting. Usually I’m here for the twisted bloke that’s got a soft spot just for the girl but is fucked up to everyone else. Like that I can understand the FMC going for him in the end. But in what fucking world does Rikka thinking going for Michael is a good idea?? RUN BITCH, RUN!!!!! I legit would have moved towns. Actually that’s not far enough. I’m leaving the fucking continent. Michael has literally no redeeming qualities outside of being a good fuck… My girl, there is other good fucks in the sea…

SPOILERS IN THIS PARAGRAPH. Also the whole plot of this book wouldn’t of happened if the boys had acted like adults and just asked Rikka what the fuck happened. For context the boys did something years back and at the time a video ended up on social media which resulted in I think 2 of them (maybe 3, I can’t remember) ending up in jail. They blamed Rikka for that video being uploaded. Rikka also basically lived in Michaels family home for approx 3 years leading up to the books time frame and not once did Michael think to talk to her? This resulted in the boys wanting revenge. They terrorised her for a while and then finally kidnapped her with the intention of turning her into a sex slave or some shit. But a bitch fought back and then Michael got cold feet and argument ensued and finally the truth came out. Did Michael apologies? Nope. But she took him back anyway.

Lastly, Cons for Hideaway. Banks. Banks is the Con. There is some fucked up mental manipulation and mental health issues going on here but her obsession with her fuck wit of a brother was just so damn frustrating. I wanted to slap her the entire book. She also manipulates Kai at times and while Kai ain’t innocent he is definitely the pick of the boys and doesn’t deserve to feel like shit because of some stupid bitch can’t sort out her own problems. In someone else’s review I saw on StoryGraph they said that the only decent thing Banks did in the entire book was save the dogs and agreed but also taking the cook with her too. Also Banks victim blaming Rikka and slut shaming her when she doesn’t even really know what happened is just a perfect addition.

Oh and Damons mother is FUCKED. I have no words for that woman…

Now, you maye read this review and look at the ratings below and think “bitch what are you smoking I was expecting a 1 star” and yes I know. But it was just so damn easy to devour! I think I need to find a therapist…
