It’s time for part 2! So, let’s jump straight in.
You can find Part 1 HERE!
1. Oz by Frank L. Baum

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum
The Marvelous Land of Oz by L. Frank Baum
I have listened to the audiobook of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz because I found out it was narrated by Anne Hathaway. It was really good but I’ve never been a huge fan of the tale and didn’t really care to continue.
2. Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan
The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan
The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan
The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan
I have read The Lightning Thief but I wasn’t a huge fan. It definitely didn’t live up to the hype surrounding this series and I was never super interested in continuing.
3. Spirit Animals

Wild Born by Brandon Mull
Hunted by Maggie Stiefvater
This one is on the verge of maybe actually but it’s mostly not likely I will continue. I didn’t love Wold Born and it didn’t really interest me. However, this series has a different author for each book, so maybe I’ll like some of the others more than the first book.. I don’t really know. I’m not likely to continue but if I need a middle grade with an animal on the cover for a ReadAThon or something I might pick up the audiobook.
4. Creekwood by Becky Albertalli

Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli
Love, Creekwood by Becky Albertalli
I have read Simon Vs. as well as Leah on the Offbeat but I will not be continuing. I loved Simon Vs. but really did not like Leah on the Offbeat. It featured some extremely problematic content that was harmful towards Bisexual representation & it was never rectified. For this reason I won’t be supporting the series again.
5. Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor
I did enjoy Strange the Dreamer but I didn’t love the romance. I loved the rest of the book enough that I was able to ignore the romance. I tried to read Muse of Nightmares but ended up DNFing as the romance was extremely prominent in the chapters I read and I just didn’t care for it at all.
6. The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid

The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid
The Empress by S.J. Kincaid
The Nemesis by S.J. Kincaid
I read The Diabolic a fair while ago and while I did enjoy it I have no lost interest in continuing onto The Empress.
7. Caraval by Stephanie Garber

Caraval by Stephanie Garber
Legendary by Stephanie Garber
Finale by Stephanie Garber
I loved Caraval but didn’t really care for Legendary so I haven’t been interested in continuing onto Finale.
8. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
A Torch Agains the Night by Sabaa Tahir
A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir
A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir
I read An Ember in the Ashes & A Torch Against the night and loved them. I then attempted to reread them before the release of A Reaper at the Gates and during that reread I realised I wasn’t enjoy it as much as I did the first time around. So I never continued to A Reaper at the Gates.
9. The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi

The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi
A Crown of Wished by Roshani Chokshi
The Star-Touched Queen was good from what I remember but I have completely forgotten everything that happened in the book. Obviously it didn’t make a lasting impact, so I won’t be bothering continuing.
10. Flame in the Mist by RenΓ©e Ahdieh

Flame in the Mist by RenΓ©e Ahdieh
Smoke in the Sun by RenΓ©e Ahdieh
I read Flame in the Mist as an eARC before it’s release but I didn’t enjoy it much so I was never interested in continuing onto Smoke in the Sun.
11. Kendra Chronicles by Alex Flinn

Beastly by Alex Flinn
Bewitching by Alex Flinn
Mirrored by Alex Flinn
Beheld by Alex Flinn
Beastly is another one that I enjoyed but didn’t really make a lasting impact. I likely won’t be continuing onto Bewitching.
12. Stormheart by Cora Carmack

Roar by Cora Carmack
Rage by Cora Carmack
Reign by Cora Carmack
While I did enjoy the plot and writing of Roar the male characters all annoyed me a lot. At first I was curious to continue for the plot but I just can’t tolerate those characters. So I won’t be continuing.
13. Passenger by Alexandra Bracken

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken
Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken
I have read Passenger and I did enjoy it but there were a couple things I wasn’t a fan of. I did intend to read Wayfarer eventually but now I have just lost interest.
14. Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken

The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken
The Last Life of Prince Alastor by Alexandra Bracken
I read The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding but I was never really keen on it and wasn’t interested in continuing onto The Last Life of Prince Alastor.
15. Dimple and Rishi by Sandhya Menon

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
There’s Something about Sweetie by Sandhya Menon
10 Things I Hate About Pinky by Sandhya Menon
This is another one I didn’t enjoy so won’t be continuing. I have only read When Dimple Met Rishi and have no interest in reading more in the series.
16. The 100 by Kass Morgan

The 100 by Kass Morgan
Day 21 by Kass Morgan
Homecoming by Kass Morgan
Rebellion by Kass Morgan
For this one I actually watched, I think the first 4 seasons of the TV show before picking up the book. I loved the TV show but there is a fair few differences between it and the book. As I watched and loved the TV show first the book just didn’t impress me and I was never interested in continuing. I definitely want to do a rewatch of the show though and watch the new seasons!
17. Iskari by Kristen Ciccarelli

The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli
The Caged Queen by Kristen Ciccarelli
The Sky Weaver by Kristen Ciccarelli
I read The Last Namsara as an eARC before release and it was fine but didn’t blow me away. For that reason I won’t be continuing onto The Caged Queen.
18. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare
City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare
City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
I have read both City of Bones & City of Ashes and while they were fine they were also slow and definitely didn’t live up to the hype for me. I have been told to just finish these books so I can move onto the other series in the same world but I have really lost interest. I can’t see the point in reading book more mediocre books just in the hopes of maybe getting to something better.. Doesn’t make sense to me, so I won’t be bothering.
19. Song of the Current by Sarah Tolcser

Song of the Curren by Sarah Tolcser
Whisper of the Tide by Sarah Tolcser
I read and enjoyed Song of the Current but after a while I simply lost interest. This one just fell off my radar and I don’t think I will be bothering continuing with it.
20. Legend by Marie Lu

Legend by Marie Lu
Prodigy by Marie Lu
Champion by Marie Lu
Rebel by Marie Lu
I have read both Legend and Prodigy and while they were good they didn’t blow my mind and I was never really urged to continue onto Champion.
21. The Wounded Kingdom by R.J. Barker

Age of Assassins by R.J. Barker
Blood of Assassins by R.J. Barker
King of Assassins by R.J. Barker
So I originally requested Blood of Assassins from NetGalley not realising it was the second book in a series. I had to read Age of Assassins before I could read Blood of Assassins obviously and those are the only two I read in the series. I ended up not loving them as much as I hoped so after reviewing Blood of Assassins I didn’t bother continuing.
22. Everless by Sara Holland

Everless by Sara Holland
Evermore by Sara Holland
Everless was another one I read as an eARC and didn’t end up loving it enough to want to continue onto Evermore.
23. The Runebinder Chronicles by Alex R. Kahler

Runebinder by Alex R. Kahler
Runebreaker by Alex R. Kahler
Runemaker by Alex R. Kahler
Runebinder is another eARC that I read and didn’t enjoy so didn’t bother continuing.
24. Shatter Me by Tahera Mafi

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi
Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi
Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi
Defy by Tahereh Mafi
Imagine Me by Tahereh Mafi
I read Shatter Me a couple years ago and while I did enjoy it I wasn’t blown away and never felt the need to keep reading.
25. His Fair Assassins by Robin LaFevers

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers
Dark Triumph by Robin LaFevers
Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers
I read Grave Mercy last year and it was good but there are definitely other books that I loved more and would be more keen to read their sequels. So this one just isn’t a priority for me.
26. Rondo by Emily Rodda

The Key to Rondo by Emilly Rodda
The Wizard of Rondo by Emily Rodda
The Battle with Rondo by Emily Rodda
I had owned The Key to Rondo since I was in Primary School and finally read it a couple years ago. I also read The Wizard of Rondo as I owned it but they didn’t intrigue me enough to go out and buy & read The Battle for Rondo..
27. Legacy of Orisha by Tomi Adeyemi

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi
I read Children of Blood and Bone but it didn’t live up to the hype, so I was never interested in trying Children of Virtue and Vengeance.
28. The Diviners by Libba Bray

The Diviners by Libba Bray
Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray
Before the Devil Breaks You by Libba Bray
The King of Crows by Libba Bray
The Diviners really didn’t live up to the hype for me. I wasn’t a fan of the romance and overall I just found it lacking. I don’t think I will ever bother picking up Lair of Dreams.
29. The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss
The Name of the Wind is another one that didn’t live up to the hype. This book is so highly loved and I expected amazing things but for me it didn’t reach anywhere near those expectations. I’m just not a huge fan of the slower adult fantasy genre. So this one wasn’t for me.
30. Abhorsen by Garth Nix

Sabriel by Garth Nix
Lirael by Garth Nix
Abhorsen by Garth Nix
Clariel by Garth Nix
Goldenhand by Garth Nix
For this one basically go back and read the explanation I wrote for The Kingkiller Chronicles… I have read Sabriel & Lirael and won’t be continuing.
31. Something Dark and Holy by Emily A Duncan

Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan
Ruthless Gods by Emily A. Duncan
Blessed Monsters by Emily A. Duncan
I was soo keen for Wicked Saints but it was a tad disappointing overall. The characters (except Serefin) were bland and 2D, the plot was all over the place and the world building was meh. I did enjoy Serefin so I would be a little (LITTLE) bit interested in continuing just to see what happens to him but definitely not a high priorty.
32. The Wizards of Once by Cressida Cowell

The Wizards of Once by Cressia Cowell
Twice Magic by Cressida Cowell
Knock Three Times by Cressida Cowell
Never and Forever by Cressida Cowell
Yeah I really didn’t enjoy The Wizards of Once so it never even crossed by mind to continue onto Twice Magic. This one is just too childish for me and I didn’t enjoy the plot or characters.
33. Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend

The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend
The Calling of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsen
The Hunt for Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend
The Trials of Morrigan Crow also didn’t live up to expectations. I really didn’t care for this and it really didn’t live up to the Harry Potter comparisons that everyone was pushing.. I didn’t hate it but it’s also not one I loved and I have zero interest in continuing.
34. The Nevernight Chronicles by Jay Kristoff

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff
Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff
&
35. LIFEL1K3 by Jay Kristoff

Life Like by Jay Kristoff
Deviate by Jay Kristoff
True Life by Jay Kristoff
Well… I didn’t like Nevernight or Life L1k3 basically at all. As you may know because I mention it fairly often but I simply think that Jay Kristoff’s writing just doesn’t interest me. I find myself bored and the characters tend to be bland and the plots interesting but not blowing my mind. So yeah. Just not for me.
36. The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert

The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert
The Night Country by Melissa Albert
The Hazel Wood was yet another that didn’t live up to the hype for me. At this point I’m feeling like a broken record. It was fine but I won’t be continuing.
37. Unearthed by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner

Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
Undying by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner
Unearthed has SUCH an amazing concept but the execution just wasn’t quite there for me. I loved the idea and a couple of the aspects but overall I was left underwhelmed. I won’t be continuing to Undying.
38. Gumiho by Kat Cho

Wicked Fox by Kat Cho
Vicious Spirits by Kat Cho
For Wicked Fox the very average romance just took over the book for me and I wasn’t a fan. I loved aspects of this book but as a whole I wasn’t a fan. I didn’t like Wicked Fox enough to put my time into continuing the series.
39. Aristotle and Dante by Benjamin Alire SΓ‘enz

This one is only tentatively on this list because who knows if a sequel will even happen but if it was to come out I will not be reading it. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is probably on the top (or very close) of my list of books I consider over hyped. This is so highly loved but I found it average at best honestly.
40. Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke

Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke
The Griffin’s Feather by Cornelia Funke
Dragon Rider was fine but didn’t blow me away. My Mum enjoyed it more than I did and continued on and read book 2 but I have no interest in continuing.
41. Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asguard by Rick Riordan

The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan
The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan
The Ship of the Dead by Rick Riordan
Same as Percy Jackson, The Sword of Summer simply didn’t live up to the hype. I found this one childish and didn’t enjoy the writing at all. I think I actually disliked this one more than The Lightning Thief, so no chance of continuing.
42. The Nahx Invasions by Gabrielle Prendergast

Zero Repeat Forever by G.S. Prendergast
Cold Falling White by G.S. Prendergast
I wish I loved Zero Repeat Forever more and wanted to continue just so I could have these covers. Something about this covers just draws me in! Unfortunately though I found Zero Repeat Forever pretty average so I won’t be continuing.
43. Tales of the Blackbone Witches by Jo Spurrier

A Curse of Ash & Embers by Jo Spurrier
Daughter of Lies & Ruin by Jo Spurrier
Another one with stunning covers but book 1 was average. I read A Curse of Ash & Embers as an eARC and wasn’t impressed. So no sequel for me.
44. The Young Elites by Marie Lu

The Young Elites by Marie Lu
The Rose Society by Marie Lu
The Midnight Star by Marie Lu
I enjoyed The Young Elites even less than I did Legend and I won’t be continuing this one either. This was another one that was just average so not worth continuing for me.
45. The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani

The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
A World without Princess by Soman Chainani
The Last Ever After by Soman Chainani
I REALLY didn’t like this book. I actually wrote a full rant review for this one, so really there was no chance in me continuing.
46. Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden

The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden
The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden
Another overhyped one for me. I just don’t get it for this one. I found it slow and a little dull personally so I don’t think I will be bothering with reading more.
47. The Beginning by Nesley Clerge

End of the World was just bad honestly. This is marked as a series but there is no info on a book 2 at all. It definitely read as a start of a series but who knows if that will actually happen.
48. The Androma Saga by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings

Zenith by Sasha Alsberg & Lindsay Cummings
Nexus by Sasha Alsberg & Lindsay Cummings
It is a HARD no from me for this series. If it hadn’t been for the audiobook being available on Scribd I would not have even finished Zenith. It is poorly written and even more poorly edited. It was extremely repetitive all the time and everything just felt flat. It had so much potential but unfortunately it was poorly executed.

Do you agree with any of my choices? Or disagree? Let me know your thoughts on the series I won’t be continuing.
