I’m back for another Tag Sunday! This week I saw this tag over at A Book. A Thought. You can also find the original tag on Youtube HERE.
So let’s get into it!
* I’m not using my usual tag graphics only because some of these questions are crazy long and won’t fit in my graphic and be readable!*
A Popular Book or series that you didn’t like
If you want to know why you can find my Spoiler Free review of Me Before You HERE & my Spoilery review of Shiver HERE
A Popular Book or series that everyone else seems to hate but you love
A Love Triangle where the main character ended up with the person you did NOT want them to end up with (warn ppl for spoilers) OR an OTP that you don’t like
As I’m not a huge romance fan I don’t generally get hugely attached to romances in books. I also HATE love triangles, so I’m going to go with the OTP I don’t like and that would be.
SPOILERS
Is it Mia & Tric? I think that’s them, I didn’t enjoy this book so I kinda forgot basically everything and had to look it up in my review.
A popular book Genre that you hardly reach for
Romance, I never pick up straight romance books.
A popular or beloved character that you do not like
Prince Kai, if you want to know why I have a mini rant in my review which you can find HERE!
A popular author that you can’t seem to get into
I don’t really have an answer for this question because I don’t have an author that I have read multiple of their books and I couldn’t get into. But I will mention a couple that their first book didn’t impress me and I’m not racing in to pick up another!
For Jay Kristoff I am referring to his books that are just him. I absolutely LOVE The Illuminae Files but the first book by solely him I read was Nevernight and I didn’t love it.
A popular book trope that you’re tired of seeing. (examples “lost princess”, corrupt ruler, love triangles, etc.)
Love Triangles & Insta love are big ones but the main one I am REALLY sick of is the bad parents one. It doesn’t really have a name but I’m talking about how most YA books the MC’s parents are either horrible people, dead, they abandoned them or just aren’t home enough to look after them.
I’m just going to go in order of the last 10 books I read to see how many show this trope. I will not name the books to avoid spoilers.
Father Dead, Mother turns out to be a bad guy
Wasn’t a YA book (The Hobbit)
Father cheats on mother
There but absent from house a lot of the time
Father Dead & Step Mother is a bitch
Adopted father who is bad guy in the end
Weren’t really involved in book but did care
Given up by parents
Never around and doesn’t pay attention AT ALL
Mother dead & abusive father
That is litterally the order from the last 10 books/series I read! Like where are all the good parents! Where are the families/parents like Weasleys, the Women of 300 Fox way & Mav and Lisa from The Hate U Give!
This is a trope I am so over!
A popular series that you have no interest in reading
The saying goes “The book is always better than the movie”, but what movie or T.V. show adaptation do you prefer more than the book?
So this is a series that I haven’t finished the books. But I am going to go with Season 1 of Shadowhunters. I really enjoyed Season 1 and I didn’t enjoy book 1 & 2. I didn’t like Season 2 though, I thought it got a bit weird and I was also told that Clary & Simon never get together in the book and yet they did in the show and I’m not okay with changing something that major in an adaptation, even if I didn’t love the book! They just shouldn’t do that shit!
Because I’ll be doing them every Sunday, I am only going to tag 2 people in each so I’m not tagging the same people all the time! So each week I will tag my latest 2 followers! These will also be only followers that I follow back as well as there is no point in tagging someone I don’t follow.
Bad parents is such a frustrating trope. It is always a breath of fresh air when I read about good parents! It shouldn’t be this hard to find books like that!

I know right! It seems like authors just want to put every struggle they can in books and that’s one of the major ones.

Yay! I am not the only one who actually liked Allegiant. I can’t really remember what happened but I do know that I don’t consider it to be as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

I’m the same. I read it a fair while ago but I did enjoy it. And I am fairly sure I cried at the end or was at least upset. Don’t remember.

That was the same with me too.

I agree about Benjamin Alire Saenz. I just can’t seem to get into his books as much as everyone else seems to be. I’ve read both of his YA books, and I liked them (4 stars each), but I wasn’t obsessed with them either.

I’ve only read Aristotle and Dante and I gave it a 3 and a half rating. I just don’t get the hype really

Me neither. I don’t want to give spoilers in case anyone reading the comments hasn’t read it, but I thought the ending felt very forced. Like Ari’s decision was thrust upon him by others instead of coming to it himself.

I remember I had an issue with the ending, but I don’t remember. I honestly don’t remember anything about it haha.
