So I have wanted to get into some middle grade books as I’ve only ever read two and I want to read more. This book sounds like an awesome fantasy book. I actually purchased it a couple days ago with the money Mum gave me for my birthday. It’s not breaking my book buying ban if the money was a gift right? haha
Verdict: KEEP
I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson
This is a diverse book that is also about family. I mainly read diverse books that focus on the LGBTQIA+ side of diversity and I want to read more. I have read a few but not enough and this one sounds really interesting as it is told in the 2 POVs at different times in their life. This book definitely sounds like something I want to try.
Verdict: KEEP
Naughts & Crosses by Malorie Blackman
So on the front cover this book is said to be a thriller but the description shouts romance in a dystopian setting. As you may no I’m not a huge fan of romance concentrated books and this screams that it is one.
Verdict: DELETE
Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst
It’s so uncommon to find diverse characters in fantasy books. It’s happening more often but there still isn’t enough out there! This book and magic world sounds really interesting and the diversity is just a plus. I’m keen to get to this book!
Verdict: KEEP
Tattoo Atlas by Tim Floreen
There is a lot of diverse books in this post. This one is a Sci-Fi Mystery with a GLBT character. This book sounds really interesting and I have never read a mystery besides Agatha Christie so it would be interesting to read a mystery by another author.
Verdict: KEEP
A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray
So this is mainly on my TBR because of the cover. I do have a copy of this book on my Scribd app. So this book is said to be a crossover of Orphan Black & Cloud Atlas which I don’t know what either is, I have heard of the Orphan Black show but never actually watched it. So from that I don’t know what to expect from that. But the synopsis does sound really interesting. A multi dimensional hunt for a murder? I’m intrigued.
Verdict: KEEP
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
This is such a popular book that I want to read it just for that. It does seem to have a strong romance theme but hopefully it won’t be too overpowering to the story. This is a book that I want to give a chance even though it is romance focused as there is so much praise that I want to see for myself if the hype is worth it.
Verdict: KEEP
The Ocean At The End Of The Lane by Neil Gaiman
So I do want to give a horror book ago and everyone has recommended Neil Gaiman for that! Also this book is really short so it seems like a good place to start in horror. I do already own a copy of this book that I purchased last year but just haven’t got to. The synopsis just makes me so curious to found out what happened to our MC when he was a kid!
Verdict: KEEP
Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman
I love Historical Fiction books, especially ones set during WWII. This book’s MC is the niece of none other than Adolf Hitler and that is such an interesting POV to come from in a WWII book! There is obviously going to be a romance as a main part of this book but I still want to give this book a go because of everything else! So hopefully it won’t be too much and at least the romance seems to play a legit part in the plot of the story.
Verdict: KEEP
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
I honestly don’t know why this book is on my TBR at all. New Adult Contemporary Romance? Why did I put this on there?! This is so not something I want to read.
Verdict: DELETE
Well that is all for today! Deleted 2!
A Thousand Pieces of You (and the trilogy) is so much fun! ❤ Love that series so much. The Night Circus was well written, in my opinion, I really enjoyed it. And I'll Give You the Sun, and Jandy Nelson, is LOVE. I hope you love these ones, they are so dear to my heart! Glad that you decided to keep them all. 🙂

If it makes you feel any better The Night Circus isn’t mainly focused on the romance. It’s main focus is the circus itself, the people involved, Magic, and atmosphere. At least I felt that way anyway. It’s one of the few 5 star ratings I gave out this year and one of the most beautifully written books I’ve EVER read! I’ll Give You the Sun was also fantastic!

Thanks for that! That’s just how it seemed in the synopsis but thanks for letting me know!

It’s too bad the romance put you off Noughts and Crosses. It’s a pretty strong book otherwise. I can’t remember it being overly heavy on the romance (but it’s been almost a year since I read it), but it’s hard to tell with most dystopians. It’s pretty hard to find any YA books without romance, especially dystopians.

I know right. I wish there was more that didn’t focus so heavily on romance.
