This week’s prompt is: Gateway Books to Your Favourite Genre
My favourite genre is Fantasy, whether it is YA or Adult I love all fantasy. Also, some of these will be series and not just single books.
The Trylle Trilogy by Amanda Hocking
This series is an easy read and also has a bit of drama and romance in it which would help for readers that are contemporary lovers trying to get into the fantasy genre. The world building is really well done in these books and character development is great! This was the first Fantasy series I actually read and it got me into reading as well as the fantasy genre. There is also the Kanin Chronicles which is a companion trilogy to this one.
Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton
This is an awesome book and is very well written. It is a book that sucks you in and you just can’t put it down! With the second book in the series, Traitor to the Throne coming out soon it would be a good time to get your hands on Rebel of the Sands and read it. also, the covers are gorgeous and would look awesome on any book shelf!
Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children series by Ransom Riggs
If you want to get more into the creepier side of Fantasy then this is defiantly a good series to start with! I actually have only read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children but I have heard great things about the series so I’m hoping the rest of the series is just as good as the first book! It’s also another book that drags you in! Also, the Tales of the Peculiar book was recently released which I have heard is basically the stories of the peculiar children told like fairytales (please correct me if I am wrong).
Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
This is a good series if you are into longer the longer series that has a tonne of world building and that you can really get into. After reading The Trylle Trilogy this was the next book series I picked up and it just increased my love for Fantasy. It is very well written and it always keeps you guessing!
Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling (I don’t consider Harry Potter and the Cursed Child as a part of this series)
Of course, I had to put this series in there! It is a perfect series to get you into the Fantasy genre and it is such a beautifully written series! My only advice is that if you have watched the movies before reading the book then try not to think ahead to what is going to happen when reading the books, it will ruin the magic for you! This series is a series that I think every book lover should own and read! The world building is incredible and even if you have questions that didn’t quite get answered or if you want to know more about a character or creature then you can ask any HP lover or go on Pottermore! I don’t recommend reading Harry Potter and the cursed child especially if you are trying to get into the genre. Also, I highly recommend the Audiobooks for this series! They are so well done and Stephen Fry is the perfect voice for the series.
Well, that is my top 5 recommendations for someone trying to get into the Fantasy genre!
Great choices! Harry Potter forever! ❤

Still haven’t read Hocking’s Trylle series, but have read Wake, and it’s accompanying books…and I enjoyed those. Still haven’t read Rebel in the Sands…need to see if the library has it!
Great list!
