Beat the Bingo ReadAThon TBR!

So, I’ve been extremely inactive on my blog lately. Between Biannual Bibliothon, MedievalAThon & The Reading Rush I have been super busy & next month is probably going to be the same. I will be participating in NEWTs Edition of Magical ReadAThon (Month long), Beat the Bingo ReadAThon (Month long) & the Harry Potter Edition of Fantasy JourneyAThon (10th – 19th)!

Beat the Bingo ReadAThon is taking place over in the Facebook Group The YA Book Nerds which I run. You can join the group HERE!

I have chosen books for all the challenges except for the ‘Previous YA Book Nerds BOTM’ because as the organiser of the group I have read all the Group Books as I was the one that choose them & made the discussion questions. So I’ve just left this as a free choice for myself.

Read a book with a Male MC

Reread a Favourite

Read a book with a blue cover

Listen to an Audiobook

Read a fantasy book

Read a book with a plant on the cover

Read a Sci-Fi

Read a Graphic Novel

Read a book with multiple POV

Read a book under 250 pages

Read a Diverse Book

Read a book with gold on the cover

Read the Group Book

Read a Dystopian Book

Read a book set in the future

Read a book with red on the cover

Read a mystery book

Read a book by an Author of colour

Read an Own Voices book

Read a 2019 release

Read a book over 300 pages

Read a Historical Book

Read a book with yellow on the cover

Read a Middle Grade book

My TBR is a bit ambitious but I tried to choose a decent amount of Graphic Novels & Audiobooks! There are 14 books, 7 Audiobooks & 3 Graphic Novels! So fingers crossed I can complete as many as possible!

Have you read any of these books? Did you love them? Hate them? Let me know!
Also, let me know if you’re participating as well!

Purchase any of the books mentioned from BOOK DEPOSITORY! World Wide FREE shipping and awesome prices? Can’t say no to that!

Fantasy JourneyAThon – Round 2 – Harry Potter Edition!

Round 2 is here! And this time it is Harry Potter themed!

When?

10th to 19th of August, 2019! In your time zone.

How to?

Firstly, here is the map!

The Map break down:
Eyelops Owl Emporium > Leaky Cauldron > Forest of Dean > Kinds Cross Station > Tottenham Court Road > Flourish & Blotts > The 3 Broomsticks > 12 Grimmauld Place > Ollivanders > 4 Privet Drive

So for this Round your goal is to JOURNEY as far as you can on the map! Starting at Eyelops Owl Emporium. There are 10 challenges for the 10 days of the ReadAThon but you do not HAVE to complete all 10. Just go as far as you can!

The Locations?

So, this round I decided to choose a single book/series and use locations from it alone! I put a poll up on Twitter and you guys voted for Harry Potter! So all these locations were mentioned in the Harry Potter books at some point and I tried to avoid the REALLY obvious ones like Hogsmeade & the Castle.

The Challenges?

Eyelops Owl Emporium: Read a book with a bird on the cover

Leaky Cauldron: Read a book with witches/wizards

Kings Cross Station: Read a book with Scarlet on the cover

Forest of Dean: Read a book with a tree on the cover

Tottenham Court Road: Read a book under 300 pages

Flourish & Blotts: Read a book with a beautiful cover

12 Grimmauld Place: Read a book with a dark theme

The 3 Broomsticks: Read a book with multiple POV or Authors

Fantasy JourneyAThon | Reading Challenge Examples

I thought it might be helpful to do up a post of options of books that you could read for each of the challenges. These aren’t recommendations as I haven’t read all of them.

Fantasy JourneyAThon Announcement Post

You are welcome to interpret these challenges as you please. As long as you can explain why the book you choose fits the challenge.

Also all of these options are YA books, of course you are welcome to read Adult & Middle Grade books but the lists would be never ending if I included all books. So YA narrows it down a bit for me. Also I’m more familiar with YA books, so it’s easy to know what fits the challenges.

I also won’t bother explaining every book in every subject unless I think it needs it.

New Beijing – Read a Sci-Fi Book

Sheol 1 – Read a Dystopian Book

Kalyazin – Read a book with Blood on the Cover OR Read a book with a Red Cover

Blood on the Cover

Book with a Red Cover

Medora – Read a book with the ‘Chosen One’ Trope

Emberfall – Read a Retelling/Reimagining

Dustwalk – Read a book about a Rebellion

New Reynes – Read a book that has a Card Suit on the cover

This is a challenge that has many ways to interpret it. You can choose a book with a ♥️ or a human heart. You can choose a book with a ♦️ or a 💎. Or a book with ‘Heart’, ‘Diamond’, ‘Spade’ or ‘Club’ in the title.

Ellingham Academy – Read a Mystery Book

The Shire – Read a book that is at least 10 years old

The Ice Court – Read a book following ‘Criminals’

Fennbirn – Read a book with Multiple POV

Cabeswater – Read a book that involves a King

Hogwarts – Read a book that is set in a Magical School

Well that is all the Challenges! If you have any recommendations, please put them in the comments so others can get some inspiration on what to read.

What are you most looking forward to reading during Fantasy JourneyAThon?!

TBR Jar ReadAThon – Round #4 Announcement!

Dates: 24th – 30th of May, 2019

How it works

This ReadAThon is pretty simple. First, pick a goal. I will be aiming for 7 books, but you can choose as many or as little books as you wish.
Next, grab a jar, or cup, or hat, it really doesn’t matter. Something you can put names into.
For the next step, you can do this one a few ways.
Option 1 is to put all the books on your TBR (physical, eBook, audiobook, whatever you wish) into a hat.
Option 2, you can pick some of the books you are most looking forward to and put them in a hat. (Try and put at least double the amount that is your goal to make it interesting)
Option 3, (this is what I will be doing), get a 2nd jar, in 1 jar put all the physical & eBooks books on your TBR into it and in the 2nd jar put all the audiobooks on your TBR.
Lastly, pick a name out of the jar and read that book, then pick another name and read that book and continue until you either hit your goal or run out of time in the ReadAThon.

Extra Info

You can choose to pull the number of names you choose for your goal out of the jar prior to the ReadAThon or pull them out as you go.

Use the hashtag #TBRJarRAT so I can see what you’re up to (also if it is on Twitter or Instagram then you can tag the @TBRJarRAT page too.

So, some of you may have a few books from the same series still on your TBR. Join the club. So if this is the case, you can either choose to only put the 1st book (or the book you are up to) in the TBR jar OR you can put it in as the full series. So if you pick up that name, then you have to try and read all the books from that series that you have on your shelf.
This ReadAThon is very customisable, so do whatever fits you.

Day 10 Update – OWLs Magical ReadAThon

So it is the 10th day of OWLs Magical ReadAThon and I thought I would do a little update of what I’ve read so far and what challenges I’ve completed so far!

Physical Reads

I read 3/4 of A Curse So Dark and Lonely after the ReadAThon started. So I decided to count it towards the Ancient Runes challenge as it is a Beauty and the Beast retelling!

I planned to read The Song Rising but decided to reread the first 2 books before reading it as it had been a while and I couldn’t remember as much as I liked. I decide to use this one for the Divination challenge as this is set in the future.

Audiobooks

I’ve been slowly making my way through the Hercule Poirot series and I have so far read these 2 this month. I used Murder in Mesopotamia for the History of Magic challenge & Cards on the Table for the Charms challenge.

I have started rereading The Medoran Chronicles by Lynette Noni via audiobook. So far I have read Akarnae, Raelia & Draekora. I have used Akarnae for the Herbology challenge & Raelia for the Potions challenge. Draekora doesn’t fit in any of the challenges unfortunately.

Currently Reading

I’m reading The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon as part of my reread before starting The Song Rising. I’m also rereading Graevale as the next part in The Medoran Chronicles series. Graevale also doesn’t fit in the challenges anywhere. I am using The Mime Order for the Transfiguration challenge.

Let’s Chat!

Are you participating in OWLs Magical ReadAThon? How many challenges have you finished so far?!
