Goodreads Synopsis

“Lengard is a secret government facility for extraordinary people,” they told me.

I believed them. That was my mistake.

There isn’t anyone else in the world like me.

I’m different. I’m an anomaly. I’m a monster.

For two years, six months, fourteen days, eleven hours and sixteen minutes, Subject Six-Eight-Four — ‘Jane Doe’ — has been locked away and experimented on, without uttering a single word.

As Jane’s resolve begins to crack under the influence of her new — and unexpectedly kind — evaluator, she uncovers the truth about Lengard’s mysterious ‘program’, discovering that her own secret is at the heart of a sinister plot … and one wrong move, one wrong word, could change the world.

Goodreads Synopsis (1)

I do enjoy the cover of this book. It is simple and represents the start of the book extremely well. It gives it that asylum like feel which is what we kinda get at the beginning.

Goodreads Synopsis (2)

I love Lynette Noni’s writing and I adore everything I have read by her so far. This one wasn’t as engaging as The Medoran Chronicles but I still really enjoyed it. The first half was a little slow, but I also understand why it was needed to show how the MC was being treated and then when she joined the program, how she was training to control her gift. This also allowed us to get to know her, and the other major characters.

I’m not 100% sure how I feel about the romance yet. It didn’t specifically amount to much in this book but it is also feeling kinda typical. I’m not a romance reader and one of the reasons for that is that I usually think the romances are the same old boring thing I have seen 10 times before in YA books. This one was about the same. As I said nothing amounted just yet but I can already guess how the romance will pan out.

One of my favourite parts of Lynette Noni’s writing is her friendships! Alex, DC, Jordan & Bear from The Medoran Chronicles were one of THE BEST friendship group I have read! This one didn’t disappoint either! The MC develops an awesome friendship with Cami & I think a developing friendship with a couple others but we will have to see in book 2.

Goodreads Synopsis (3)

As I already said the first half of the book was pretty slow, but the second part was entertaining, full of interesting plot points and very engaging. Once I got to page 200ish I was hooked and could barely put the book down. There wasn’t a tonne of actual plot twists, it was more just learning more. I always kinda knew we were only getting half the story and then when a certain event happened and we got some more info it wasn’t shocking, just interesting. So it wasn’t exactly a twist as I expected it coming in some way, not necessarily the exact details, but I knew some info like this was coming.

Goodreads Synopsis (4)

I did enjoy or MC and the reason I’m not saying her name is that she goes through a fair few throughout the book. She gets called Jane Doe, to begin with, & also JD, as a shortened version. So I’m just going to go with JD as it is easiest and doesn’t spoil anything. JD was an interesting character. She had a lot of history that she was struggling to get through. Because of that she was guarded and wary. She never betrayed who she was even if her own life was at risk. She was hell-bent on not risking the people around her, even if that meant she was at risk herself. I loved that about her. She was just a determined, badass and awesome character.

Ward, I simply don’t know how I feel and I can’t give details as it would be complete spoilers! Hopefully, I will be able to gauge the real him a bit more in book 2!

As for the other characters, I love Cami she is so sweet and amazing but also extremely determined to do what she thinks is right. Even if that involves arguing with her brother over someone else’s treatment. She was a strong and powerful character and I really enjoyed her! I can’t wait to see her a bit more in Book 2.
Enzo was a funny, sarcastic but also kinda older brother/uncle feeling. He always had everyone’s best interests at heart but liked to have some fun too. He also wasn’t afraid of butting heads with his friends when he didn’t agree with them.
Keeda I was a bit wary of at the beginning. She just kinda felt a little like one of those ‘don’t give a shit’ type characters that don’t let themselves close to others. She came through in the end and I’m keen to see her grow and maybe get a bit closer to some of the other characters in the next book.
Sneak we really don’t see a tonne of, he is always in the background, hiding and not talking much. So I feel like I couldn’t really connect with him. I do like him though and want to see more.
Crew I’m really not sure about. He is simply a brutal person and no matter what is going on, that is how he comes across. So I just don’t know how I feel about him. He hasn’t done anything that makes me think that he is an enjoyable character or not.

Goodreads Synopsis (5)

Overall, I didn’t love this one as much as The Medoran Chronicles but I still really enjoyed it. I didn’t love how slow it was at the beginning and it didn’t full on snag my interest until after halfway. After that, I was hooked. The romance also isn’t ideal. One of the big reasons I love The Medora Chronicles is because of the basically no romance until book 4. We got to learn about the characters and then see them slowly open up to each other. Whereas in this one, Ward is literally the only new person around her age that she has met in 2 and a half years, so when it started happening pretty early, I wouldn’t say insta love but still, but maybe instant lust. Or something, I really don’t know how to explain it as shit was all over the place here.
Besides those 2 things I didn’t love, I really enjoyed the characters, the world-building, the friendship and heaps more. Hopefully, Book 2 is a little more action-packed and doesn’t turn into a love story and it might just hit that 5-star mark!

*Thank you to Pantera Press & NetGalley for giving me an eGalley of this book in return for an honest review.*

This review will most likely be fairly vague as I am going to try and keep it spoiler free. At the beginning of this book something epic and completely unexpected happens and for that reason, this book is really hard to talk about without spoilers as even mention what characters are present will spoil the plot to some degree. So I am sorry this won’t be the most in depth review I have written! There may be small spoilers for Akarnae & Raelia in this review.

This is my favourite cover so far! It is so gorgeous and just makes me want to go buy a copy for myself! Which I will do eventually! But this cover is gorgeous! The colours, the floating islands & a fucking DRAGON!! Or should I say Draekon???? I can’t wait to get my hands on the whole set as they are all so gorgeous and I’m so keen to see what the cover of Graevale!

Blog Titles (2)

I still love the easy flow that these books have! The world building in these books is absolutely amazing and even though it is a high fantasy complex world I found it really well explained and was easy to keep up with. I’m never confused about these books as everything is always explained so well and each book rounds off nicely so that at the end you aren’t sitting with so many questions you don’t even know what to feel. I really love the writing of this book for that reason as there is nothing worse than finishing a book and being more confused than when you started.

In this one, I did really enjoy the incorporation of the Meyarin language in it was really interesting! I also really enjoyed that all of the Meyarin words were translated or, if they couldn’t be translated into English, there meaning it was explained!

I also am still enjoying the very little romance in this series. There is a romance of sorts that plays out in this book but it was directly related to the plot but it wasn’t really a romance as it was completely one sided. Don’t worry that isn’t actually a spoiler as it’s straight out obvious if you know the characters or the plot of the previous books.

Blog Titles (3)

This book is definitely my favourite so far! There is so much that happens in this book and I can’t even begin to explain why I love this so much, it’s just so epic and so unexpected! But just know there is time travel, Dragons, new friendships and so many damn twists and turns that I’m still kinda in shock.

Blog Titles (4)

Okay, so there really isn’t much I can say about the characters in the book without giving away part of the plot, so if you don’t want spoilers then please skip to the ‘overall’ section.

I love Alex, she is such a badass female character that is just trying to do the right thing and save as many people as she can! Her development in this book was really important as we see her interact with the past version of her friends and enemies and allow herself to realise the reasons those people are the way they are in the time she knows.

It was fun meeting Roka, Kyia, Zain, King Astophe & Queen Niida again! It was fun watching Roka & Kia bicker when you knew how they would turn out in the end. I also really enjoyed just seeing everyone’s back story, even if it was only a couple weeks of it. Learning about them and how they developed into the people we know was really interesting.

I also really enjoyed Niyx as a character, he was so passionate and caring in this book and learning the real him and the truth about him was awesome. I’m so keen to see what happens with him in the next book thanks to that abrupt twist we had right at the end there after thinking again that he really was the bad guy.

Aven, this is a hard one to talk about as you know in your head the entire time what he is going to become but you can’t help to kinda like and sympathise with him in this book. But you are still sitting there waiting for whatever it is to click and for all hell to break loose.

The last character I want to talk about is actually our loveable teenage Draekon, Xiraxus. I loved Xira, he was so fun and really showed sometimes that he is in fact only a teenager but also when he needed to be he was serious and caring. I think Xira is my new favourite character and I really hope we see more of him and Draekons in general in the last book.

I love this book and this series! Definitely a new favourite series! The high fantasy world created in these books is just amazing, the characters are everything and the plot is just straight out epic. I can’t wait for book 4, Graevale to release!

I kinda wish this series was more widely know because I so want a magnetic bookmark of the characters and especially Xira!! I am going to go on a hunt to find a black dragon magnetic bookmark that I can call Xira!

I love how at the end of these books majority of things have been explained. It honestly really annoys me when you get to the end of the book and you are just straight up confused and then have to wait a year for the next book. That is one thing I’m really enjoying, everything is just so well wrapped up at the end of the book.

I also really enjoy the lack of romance in these books, I’ve explained this MANY times but I strongly dislike books that the romance overtakes the plot. So far the first two books have only had a hint at a romance! Which I am strongly enjoying!

Blog Titles (3)

The plot of this book was a tad more action packed than book one. In the first book there was tonnes of world building and getting to know the characters whereas in this book there was more action going on. The plot of this book was fairly intense and alot went on throughout it.

I also loved that there was a reference to Harry Potter in this book and I literally laughed out loud when I read it, it was just so good and unexpected!

Blog Titles (4)

I won’t say too much about the characters as I don’t want to give anything away, but we do meet a few new characters in this book that I really enjoyed including Zain, Kyia & Roka.
I still feel the same about Alex, Jordan & Bear as I did in my first review. They are all very enjoyable characters and I loved the development of Jordan & Alex’s friendship grew even stronger in this book. So did Alex & Bears and I really enjoy how most of the time they think the same thing and only have to give eachother a lot to know that the other is thinking the same thing. I also really enjoy D.C.s character and her connection that has grown with Alex, Bear & Jordan.
I also really enjoy Darrius, Fletcher, Kaiden, Declan & Hunter and I hope to see more of them in the next book! Especially Kaiden and I’m interested to see what happens next and whether Kaiden will be more involved in the next book and whether Alex will eventually trust him.
Kaiden is probably one of my favourite characters besides Alex, along with Bear. I also like Jordan, but I think I like Bear a bit more.

Overall I’m really enjoying this series and it’s becoming one of my favourites! Can’t wait to start Draekora tonight and find out what happens next! More people need to read this series!

Will Alex risk her entire world—and maybe even her life—to save Medora?

cover (1)

This book gives me both Harry Potter & Narnia vibes but also amazingly different.

Blog Titles (1)

These covers are gorgeous. I generally don’t like book covers with real people on them but this cover is really pretty but Draekora, the third book would definitely have to be my favourite so far!

Blog Titles (2)

So I really enjoyed the writing of this book, it flowed well and was easy to keep up with. The world building was my favourite part of this book as there is definitely a lot of it in this first book and it was done really well. Everything was explained, so I wasn’t left confused at any point. This book isn’t exactly the most fast paced book I have read but I enjoyed it anyway as the world building and learning about the characters was really well done.

Blog Titles (3)

This book, like I said isn’t fast paced and it’s also not extremely action packed. There is a few major points that happen throughout the book that have a lot of action but mostly this book is word building except for those bits and the last 20% of the book. Like I said I really enjoyed the world building so this didn’t bother me at all. I know this book is the first in a series so I didn’t mind the extensive world building, especially in a book that is based in a high fantasy world. I prefer it done this way in a series than jumping straight in and being confused and everything not being explained until the last book. This way, we know all the basics by the end of the first book and the rest of the series will be less confusing.

This next paragraph may be a little spoiler, so beware and if you don’t want any spoilers just skip to the characters section.
Like I said above this book gives me both Narnia & Harry Potter vibes. In Narnia they go through a wardrobe and end up in narnia, in this one Alex goes through a door and ends up in Medora. There is a school for people with ‘gifts’ which is like Harry going to Hogwarts where their gift is magic. And also, there being an arsehole who just wants to murder everyone he can’t use? I mean Lord Voldemort vibes!

Blog Titles (4)

Alex or Alexandra is a really enjoyable character and I enjoyed seeing her go into this new world and develop. I just love Jordan & Bear, they are such good friends and great guys and one thing I loved about this book is there was no romance! Jordan always teases and jokes around with Alex but there isn’t anything more than friendship there and I kinda hope it stays that way between Bear, Jordan & Alex. There is a slight hint at an attractiveness with another character but as yet it’s not clear as to whether that is only a physical attraction to his looks or more. But that certain person I enjoy as a character and I would like to see more of him in the next book hopefully. Along with a few other including, Declan, Connor & his cousin, I’m pretty sure her name is Mel? She is only mentioned a couple times and I couldn’t find it in the book to double check it. But yeah, Connor’s cousin.
I also really enjoyed Alex’s teachers, well most of them. Finn is a bit of a jackass but that can’t be helped. Karter is an interesting characters and a little mysterious as to why he acts the way he does and I’m interested to see more.
Also D.C. is another interesting and mysterious character  that I’m interested to see more of in the next book, I’m hoping.

And of course I have already mentioned the arsehole who gives my Voldemort vibes.. I don’t think I need to say more.

Blog Titles (5)

I really enjoyed this book and I’m keen to find out what is next. I loved the world building and the slower pace for the most part. I really enjoy most of the characters and I’m interested to see them even more.
