April 2017 Anticipated Releases

Screen Shot 2017-03-29 at 9.38.13 pm

So, quite honestly I haven’t been anticipating any April releases this last month. Usually I’m having a look on GoodReads every week or so to see what’s coming. But I just haven’t done that this month, so coincidentally this will be a very short post compared to the usual ones.

I will still be adding a book or two that are 2nd, 3rd, etc books in series that I want to start!

Well I think that is all, only short this month, but oh well! I am trying to focus on the Beat The Backlist challenged which is reading book that were released in 2016 or earlier, so that is possibly why I haven’t bothered looking into new releases. Yes I know that Lifeblood & Strange the Dreamer are both 2017 releases and so is Traitor To The Throne which I am currently reading, but I’m trying to get there! The first 2 were eGalleys so I had to get to them otherwise my feedback ratio would go to shit and I have been waiting for Traitor To The Throne to come out for about a year! So I have my reasons, but now I will be concentrating on 2016 or prior  releases.

The thrilling first book in a YA fantasy trilogy for fans of Red Queen. In a world where social prestige derives from a trifecta of blood, money, and magic, one girl has the ability to break the spell that holds the social order in place.

Seven Black Diamonds Goodreads Synopsis:

Lilywhite Abernathy is a criminal. Her father’s “unconventional” business has meant a life of tightly held secrets, concealed weaponry, and a strict code. Lily is part fae, which is a crime in her world.

From the time before she was born, a war has been raging between humanity and fae. The Queen of Blood and Rage, ruler of both the Seelie and Unseelie courts, wants to avenge the tragic death of her heir—a death that was the fault of reckless humans.

Lily’s father has shielded her from the repercussions of her ancestry…until she is sent to the prestigious St. Columba’s school, straight into the arms of the Black Diamonds.

Mysterious, glamorous, and bound together in their mission but constantly at odds, Zephyr, Creed, Will, Roan, Violet, and Alkamy are a Sleeper cell of fae, planted in the human world to help destroy it from within. January 2017 Anticipated Releases

screen-shot-2016-12-31-at-10-41-43-pm

Mini blogging update

These posts (Releases, Haul, Wrap-Up & TBR) are going to be a tad late compared to when I usually post them as I was on holidays for over a week and when I was writing scheduled posts to go up in the last week after I did 3 I was kinda over it and said screw it the rest can wait. I did get 2 wrap ups of reading challenges done while I was away as I did have wifi for 4 days, but I don’t like using other people’s wifi all the time, so that was all I did. I still a few more reading challenge conclusions to write I’m pretty sure.

I know I won’t get much reading done for the next couple of days as I have a friend staying with me and I want to spend time with them as I don’t see them that much. I may get some done once they have gone to sleep or if they go and see someone else during the day. I do really wanted to get Ice Like Fire finished by New Years, but as that it 5 hours away for me, I don’t think it is going to happen!

I have already posted a Book Travelling Thursday about books I’m looking forward to for the first half of 2016!

Far away, in their village, her sister is mourning. Through her pain, she calls upon the desert winds, conjuring a subtle unseen magic, and something besides death stirs the air.

But, a true Cancerian who loves her home fiercely and will protect her people no matter what, Rho accepts.

Then, when more Houses fall victim to freak weather catastrophes, Rho starts seeing a pattern in the stars. She suspects Ophiuchus—the exiled 13th Guardian of Zodiac legend—has returned to exact his revenge across the Galaxy. Now Rho—along with Hysan Dax, a young envoy from House Libra, and Mathias, her guide and a member of her Royal Guard—must travel through the Zodiac to warn the other Guardians.

But who will believe anything this young novice says? Whom can Rho trust in a universe defined by differences? And how can she convince twelve worlds to unite as one Zodiac?

Embark on a dazzling journey with ZODIAC, the first novel in an epic sci-fi-meets-high-fantasy series set in a galaxy inspired by the astrological signs.

How?!?!? I forgot!! Addition to November Monthly Releases!

screen-shot-2016-10-28-at-10-18-30-pm

Okay, so I did my November Monthly Releases yesterday and I completely forgot to put Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them on there!

So here is an addition to yesterday’s post!

0portland_lbbg_revision2_fotor

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Original Screenplay) by J.K. Rowling

Even though I strongly disliked Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which was partly because of the format, I am still going to read this book!
I dislike that it is another Screenplay, but at least this time I will be about to see the media that goes along with it. That is what disappointed me most about Cursed Child, I live in Australia and can barely make enough money to live.. I can’t afford to go and see the play! The least they could have done was recorded one of the live shows so that the rest of the world could actually see it! Whereas Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them I can at least see the movie that goes along with it and I’m so excited!

Release Date: 18th November

When Magizoologist Newt Scamander arrives in New York, he intends his stay to be just a brief stopover. However, when his magical case is misplaced and some of Newt’s fantastic beasts escape, it spells trouble for everyone…

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them marks the screenwriting debut of J.K. Rowling, author of the beloved and internationally bestselling Harry Potter books. Featuring a cast of remarkable characters, this is epic, adventure-packed storytelling at its very best.

Whether an existing fan or new to the wizarding world, this is a perfect addition to any reader’s bookshelf.

Anticipated October Releases

screen-shot-2016-10-06-at-9-12-39-pm

These are my most anticipated releases for the month of October.

gemina-by-amie-kaufman-and-jay-kristoffGenre: YA/Science Fiction
Series Name: The Illuminae Files
Pages: 608
Release Date: 18th October

Gemina is the second book in The Illuminae Files series. I read Illuminae about a month ago and I absolutely loved it!

I have a full spoiler free review here for Illuminae.

Illuminae was so different from anything I have ever read! I love that this book uses IMs, emails, interviews and other forms of hacked files to portray the story. It makes for such an interesting read and also a quick read!

I won’t put a synopsis for Gemina otherwise, it will spoil Illuminae. However, it is a thrilling sci-fi that is set in the year 2575

The Wands vs the World by Jade Chang

28114515

Genre: Fiction/Contemporary/Humour
Pages: 368
Release Date: 4th October

The Wangs vs. The World was recently on one of my Diversity Spotlight Thursdays posts.

This book is about a wealthy Chinese family that loses every cent they have. They take a road trip across America that brings them back together as a family.

Well, this is what I get from the Goodreads Synopsis. It sounds like an interesting read and is also a diverse book and I want to read more diverse books.

Glitter by Aprilynne Pike

glitter-cvr

Genre: YA/Fantasy/Historical Fiction
Pages: 384
Release Date: 25th October

This book is based in the modern world, however, inside the palace of Versailles people act, eat and dress like it’s the eighteenth century. This book has been described at Breaking Bad meets Marie Antoinette.

This book sounds so interesting and different from anything I have ever read! I also want to get into some more Historical Fiction.

This book cover is also gorgeous!

Fear the Drowning Deep by Sarah Glenn Marsh

fear-the-drowning-deep_cover

Genre: YA/Historical Fiction/Fantasy
Pages: 304
Release Date: 4th October

Goodreads synopsis (because I couldn’t even begin to explain it in my own words):

Witch’s apprentice Bridey Corkill has hated the ocean ever since she watched her granddad dive in and drown with a smile on his face. So when a dead girl rolls in with the tide in the summer of 1913, sixteen-year-old Bridey suspects that whatever compelled her granddad to leap into the sea has made its return to the Isle of Man.

I love fantasy/paranormal books and this sounds like a perfect book for that!
