So I actually got accepted yesterday on NetGalley to get a eGalley of this book for review. So that’s exciting! Being Aussie it’s so hard to get book I might enjoy on NetGalley because so many aren’t available in Aus and it really sucks and I also really don’t understand that. Unless a book isn’t releasing in Australia at all then why shouldn’t we be able to get eGalleys of it?! I will never understand that.

Goodreads Synopsis:

A darkly irresistible new fantasy set in the infamous Gomorrah Festival, a traveling carnival of debauchery that caters to the strangest of dreams and desires.

Sixteen-year-old Sorina has spent most of her life within the smoldering borders of the Gomorrah Festival. Yet even among the many unusual members of the traveling circus-city, Sorina stands apart as the only illusion-worker born in hundreds of years. This rare talent allows her to create illusions that others can see, feel and touch, with personalities all their own. Her creations are her family, and together they make up the cast of the Festival’s Freak Show.

But no matter how lifelike they may seem, her illusions are still just that—illusions, and not truly real. Or so she always believed…until one of them is murdered.

Desperate to protect her family, Sorina must track down the culprit and determine how they killed a person who doesn’t actually exist. Her search for answers leads her to the self-proclaimed gossip-worker Luca, and their investigation sends them through a haze of political turmoil and forbidden romance, and into the most sinister corners of the Festival. But as the killer continues murdering Sorina’s illusions one by one, she must unravel the horrifying truth before all of her loved ones disappear.

“It’s dark magic brings him back.”

Nathaniel Bishop may not understand what brought him back, but it’s clear to Tori that he hates the Slaughters for what they did to him centuries ago. Wary yet drawn to him by a shared sense of loss, she gives him shelter. As Tori digs for the truth—and slowly begins to fall for Nathaniel—she uncovers something much darker in the tangled branches of the Slaughter family tree. In order to break the centuries-old curse that binds Nathaniel there and discover the true nature of her inheritance, Tori must unravel the Slaughter family’s oldest and most guarded secrets. The finest boarding schools in England and the constant disapproval of his father haven’t been able to curb any of his roguish passions—not for gambling halls, late nights spent with a bottle of spirits, or waking up in the arms of women or men.

But as Monty embarks on his grand tour of Europe, his quest for a life filled with pleasure and vice is in danger of coming to an end. Not only does his father expect him to take over the family’s estate upon his return, but Monty is also nursing an impossible crush on his best friend and traveling companion, Percy.

Still it isn’t in Monty’s nature to give up. Even with his younger sister, Felicity, in tow, he vows to make this yearlong escapade one last hedonistic hurrah and flirt with Percy from Paris to Rome. But when one of Monty’s reckless decisions turns their trip abroad into a harrowing manhunt that spans across Europe, it calls into question everything he knows, including his relationship with the boy he adores.

Witty, romantic, and intriguing at every turn, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue is a sumptuous romp that explores the undeniably fine lines between friendship and love.

Tilla secretly longs to sit by her father’s side, resplendent in a sparkling gown, enjoying feasts with the rest of the family. Instead, she sits with the other bastards, like Miles of House Hampstedt, an awkward scholar who’s been in love with Tilla since they were children.

Then, at a feast honoring the visiting princess Lyriana, the royal shocks everyone by choosing to sit at the Bastards’ Table. Before she knows it, Tilla is leading the sheltered princess on a late-night escapade. Along with Jax, Miles, and fellow bastard Zell, a Zitochi warrior from the north, they stumble upon a crime they were never meant to witness.

Rebellion is brewing in the west, and a brutal coup leaves Lyriana’s uncle, the Royal Archmagus, dead—with Lyriana next on the list. The group flees for their lives, relentlessly pursued by murderous mercenaries; their own parents have put a price on their heads to prevent the king and his powerful Royal Mages from discovering their treachery.

The bastards band together, realizing they alone have the power to prevent a civil war that will tear their kingdom apart—if they can warn the king in time. And if they can survive the journey . . .

April 2017 Anticipated Releases

So, quite honestly I haven’t been anticipating any April releases this last month. Usually I’m having a look on GoodReads every week or so to see what’s coming. But I just haven’t done that this month, so coincidentally this will be a very short post compared to the usual ones.

I will still be adding a book or two that are 2nd, 3rd, etc books in series that I want to start!

Well I think that is all, only short this month, but oh well! I am trying to focus on the Beat The Backlist challenged which is reading book that were released in 2016 or earlier, so that is possibly why I haven’t bothered looking into new releases. Yes I know that Lifeblood & Strange the Dreamer are both 2017 releases and so is Traitor To The Throne which I am currently reading, but I’m trying to get there! The first 2 were eGalleys so I had to get to them otherwise my feedback ratio would go to shit and I have been waiting for Traitor To The Throne to come out for about a year! So I have my reasons, but now I will be concentrating on 2016 or prior  releases.

Freya may have escaped the massacre, but she is far from safe. The nobles don’t respect her, her councillors want to control her, and with the mystery of who killed the king still unsolved, Freya knows that a single mistake could cost her the kingdom – and her life.

Freya is determined to survive, and that means uncovering the murderers herself. Until then, she can’t trust anyone. Not her advisors. Not the king’s dashing and enigmatic illegitimate son. Not even her own father, who always wanted the best for her, but also wanted more power for himself.

As Freya’s enemies close in and her loyalties are tested, she must decide if she is ready to rule and, if so, how far she is willing to go to keep the crown.

Series: Seven Black Diamonds

Genre: Fantasy YA
Pages: 368
Publisher: HarperCollins
Publication Date: February 28th, 2017

Seven Black Diamonds Goodreads Synopsis:

Lilywhite Abernathy is a criminal. Her father’s “unconventional” business has meant a life of tightly held secrets, concealed weaponry, and a strict code. But Lily’s crime isn’t being the daughter of a powerful mob boss. Her guilt lies in the other half of her DNA—the part that can coax ancient rumors from stones and summon fire with a thought. Lily is part fae, which is a crime in her world.

From the time before she was born, a war has been raging between humanity and fae. The Queen of Blood and Rage, ruler of both the Seelie and Unseelie courts, wants to avenge the tragic death of her heir—a death that was the fault of reckless humans.

Lily’s father has shielded her from the repercussions of her ancestry…until she is sent to the prestigious St. Columba’s school, straight into the arms of the Black Diamonds.

Mysterious, glamorous, and bound together in their mission but constantly at odds, Zephyr, Creed, Will, Roan, Violet, and Alkamy are a Sleeper cell of fae, planted in the human world to help destroy it from within. With covers as rock stars and celebrity children, the Black Diamonds carry out the queen’s war against humanity. And unbeknownst to Lilywhite, she’s been chosen to join them.

Now more than ever, Lily’s heritage puts her in peril, and even the romantic attention of the fae singer Creed Morrison isn’t enough to keep Lily from wanting to run back to the safer world of organized crime.

Melissa Marr returns to faery in a dramatic story of the precarious space between two worlds and the people who must thrive there.

January 2017 Anticipated Releases

screen-shot-2016-12-31-at-10-41-43-pm

Mini blogging update

These posts (Releases, Haul, Wrap-Up & TBR) are going to be a tad late compared to when I usually post them as I was on holidays for over a week and when I was writing scheduled posts to go up in the last week after I did 3 I was kinda over it and said screw it the rest can wait. I did get 2 wrap ups of reading challenges done while I was away as I did have wifi for 4 days, but I don’t like using other people’s wifi all the time, so that was all I did. I still a few more reading challenge conclusions to write I’m pretty sure.

I know I won’t get much reading done for the next couple of days as I have a friend staying with me and I want to spend time with them as I don’t see them that much. I may get some done once they have gone to sleep or if they go and see someone else during the day. I do really wanted to get Ice Like Fire finished by New Years, but as that it 5 hours away for me, I don’t think it is going to happen!

I have already posted a Book Travelling Thursday about books I’m looking forward to for the first half of 2016!

Far away, in their village, her sister is mourning. Through her pain, she calls upon the desert winds, conjuring a subtle unseen magic, and something besides death stirs the air.
