The Bookish Book Lover Tag

screen-shot-2016-11-01-at-10-54-27-am

I wasn’t tagged but I saw this tag on thegirlwhoreadtoomuch and I really enjoyed the questions, so I had to do it myself! This tag was created by shantellemaryh.

Rules:

  • Use the Banner
  • Answer the Questions
  • Use lots of book covers
  • Tag your bookish friends

What books are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs, I will finish this book by today as I only have one chapter left. I am also reading Harry Potter: The Character Vault by Jody Revenson

What’s the last book you finished?

I finished Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz. This book was okay, I have a full review here.

Aristotle_and_Dante_Discover_the_Secrets_of_the_Universe_cover

Favourite book you read this year?

Ther is no way I can choose just one, so I narrowed it down to 4 books. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater, The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson and Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

What genre have you  read most this year?

Fantasy is probably my most read this year so far!

What genre have you read least this year?

I have only read 1 dystopian, 1  Historical Fiction and 1 History/recollection this year

What genre do you want to read more of?

I want to try and read more Dystopian and more Historical Fiction. I am participating in a dystopian reading challenge. It’s not going well, only read 1 book haha. I also really enjoy reading Historical Fictions and I want to read more of them. Also, I want to read more contemporary’s, I only got into them this year. The photos are from my TBR in these genres.

How many books have you read this year, and what’s your goal?

I have read 31 books and my goal is 50 books.

What’s the last book you bought?

Nevernight-Royal-HB-front-White-title

What book are you saving up to buy next?

Next I want to buy Lole and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins, I recently read Anna and the French Kiss and now I want to read book 2. I also want to get my hands on a copy of A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas as it’s be on my TBR list for a while now and I want to read it soon.

How many books did you check out last library visit?

I haven’t been to a library in over 6 months as they barely ever have anything I am interested in.

What’s a book you can’t wait to read?

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff and The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

What’s a series you would recommend to anyone?

Well, obviously Harry Potter but that’s an obvious answer. So instead I am going to recommend Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.

VampireAcademy-NewCovers

Who’s an author you hope will write more?

Well, I’m choosing Richelle Mead, even though The Glittering Court was recently released. I haven’t read it yet but I want to and I still want more from Mead. Midnight Jewel is the next book in The Glittering Court series and is set to release in 2017.

A few books your heart adores?

The books below are my favourite books or favourite series.

  • The Trylle Trilogy (Switched, Torn and Ascend) by Amanda Hocking
  • The Kanin Chronicles (Frostfire, Ice Kissed and Crystal Kingdom) by Amanda Hocking
  • Vampire Academy series (Vampire Academy, Frost Bite, Shadow Kiss, Blood Promise, Spirit Bound and Last Sacrafice) by Richelle Mead
  • Bloodlines series (Bloodlines, The Golden Lily, The Indigo Spell, The Fiery Heart, Silver Shadows and The Ruby Circle) by Richelle Mead
  • Traitor’s Gate by Michael Ridpath
  • Harry Potter series (Philosopher’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows) by J.K. Rowling

What series’ coming conclusion makes you sad?

None at the moment.

What books are on your wishlist?

For a full list look at my goodreads to-read shelf.

This or That Tag

screen-shot-2016-10-06-at-10-44-39-pm

I was tagged by Nikki from thenightisdarkandfullofbooks to do this tag and it was originally created by Ayunda from teaandpaperbacks.

I know I have been posting a lot of what book tags lately, but I enjoy doing them! I will be back to writing reviews soon, I’m about half way through Anna and the French Kiss, so I will have a review up for it as soon as I finish it.

The Rules:

  • Mention the creator of the tag
  • Thank the blogger who tagged you!
  • Answer the questions
  • Tag other people to do this tag

So here’s the questions!

Reading on the couch or on the bed?

Well, I do a lot of both! I find that when I read in bed unless the book is really intriguing me and is a real page-turner, then I fall asleep after a couple of pages. So for that reason, if the book is a bit slower then I would choose lounge as I’m less likely to fall asleep, but if its a book I’m really enjoying then bed!

Male main character or female main character?

I do love a good female main, but I feel like nearly every book I have read lately has a female as the main character. So,  I do enjoy a female main character but I’m going to choose Male as it’s so uncommon in YA and I want to read more books with male mains.

Sweet snacks or Salty snacks while reading?

Honestly, I hate eating snacks while reading because if you get food on your fingers and then touch the book then the book as food on it and I hate it! But when I do, I usually go for salty snacks, like chips or shapes (until Arnott’s ruined them!!!!!)

Trilogies or Quartets?

Well, I don’t mind either as long as I’m enjoying the story. I have no issue whatsoever reading a 6 book series or more. So I don’t really have an answer for this.

First person point of view or third person point of view?

I think both have their ups and downs. I like first person as you find out a lot more about the person and what they are thinking and how they work. I am yet to find someone who has similar things as I do running through my head, or maybe they do and we just see them from a third person point of view. Anyway, I also like third person as you see more thing than just what the one character does. I also like when they swap from a different character’s point of view from chapter to chapter if it’s done well! I really don’t know which one to choose as to e certain stories work with first person and some with third and I like the mixture.

Reading at night or in the morning?

Night! I barely rarely read in the mornings, mainly because I sleep in unless I have to work. I also like to get shit done in the mornings and then when I’m finished doing what I need to then I read.

Libraries or bookstores?

Bookstores, kinda! I live in a rural town in Australia and the only library in my town is rather small and doesn’t have that much to offer. I also live about 3 hours away from the nearest decent bookstore, so I don’t go there very often unless we are in town for some other reason. The bookstore is also a lot dearer than buying on Book Depository of Booktopia is, so I nearly always buy books from online. I do like going into bookstores, though!

Books that make you laugh or books that make you cry?

Books that make me laugh! I am not the type of person to cry, the only book or movie to ever make me cry has been Harry Potter and that’s because it’s Harry Potter and the feels are real! I also love humour, I love laughing and reading about people having a good time.

Black cover books or white cover books?

I would rather coloured books! But, if I had to choose I would go for black books. I have alot more black than white books, I also like the look of them on my shelf. Maybe I’m just a dark person!

Character driven or plot driven storied?

I do love an awesome plot, but I’m going to choose character driven as I love getting to know a person and being able to relate to them and getting attatched to them!

I tag:

anyone who wants to do the tag!

Was so excited when I saw this Read-A-Thon come up! Created by Aentee  @readatmidnight, this tag is new and exciting and I have never seen anything like it before! Illuminae-Cover

Firstly can we just talk about this gif that I found that fades from the dust jacket cover to the actual book cover! This is fabulous. Good work Google!

I choose Illuminae by Amie Kaufman in particular because I am receiving Gemina in the exclusive Gemina Box from The YA Chronicles in October and I wanted to read Illuminae before I get it. I have heard tonnes about this book and there is so much hype for it!

Pages: 599
