July 2023 ❄️ Anticipated Releases

It’s time for another anticipated releases! There are a heap of awesome book releasing in July! Let me know in the comments what your most anticipated release for July is! Let’s jump in.

Firstly we have The Sun and the Void which is a LGBT+ Adult Historical Fantasy. I’ve been sitting here for way too long trying to figure out how to describe this book but I just cant. The synopsis is too complicated to summarise, so hit the link and give it a read.

Next is The Jasad Heir which is an Egyptian inspired Adult Fantasy and too be honest I’ve only read the first paragraph of the synopsis. That’s all I needed ot be interested. This one had a fugitive queen, a bargain with an enemy and a game that could save her kingdom… I’m in.

Then is The Housekeepers and again I know nothing about this really. I read the first sentence of the synopsis and was like ‘say no more’.

The night of London’s grandest ball, a bold group of women below stairs will launch the most daring heist of the century…

Goodreads Synopsis for The Housekeepers by Alex Hay

Dark Water Daughter sounds insane! It’s an Adult Fantasy that sounds like a high stakes dark adventure featuring pirates and privateers, magic and creatures of the deep. I’m very keen for this one!

The Revels is out of my normal comfort zone but I am intrigued. I’ve been watching some video content regarding the witch trials, witch hunting, etc. and so when I saw this recommended I thought why not. This is set during the English Civil Water in 1645 and follows a man who can hear the dead and is working for a man that was formerly a witch hunter and is being asked to return to the profession.

Then we have The Woods are Waiting and firstly I really don’t like this cover but the book sounds interesting, so hopefully it’s worth the purchase haha. This is a Horror Mystery set in a small town, filled with superstition, where the bodies of three children turned up and a man was convicted. However another body has shown up and the MCs are determined to uncover the truth.

The only sequel on this list is One of Us is Back by Karen M. McManus which is book 3 in the One of Us is Lying series. I honestly had no idea this was even coming out until I did a search earlier to make sure I hadn’t missed anything and saw this. I have no idea what it’s about but I will read any Karen M. McManus writes at this point.

So, a post I have coming soon is talking about my bookish turn ons, so things that if they are featured in a book will make me want to pick it up. Spoiler for that post but one of those is mystery books featuring podcasts and well With a Kiss We Die features that. Kinda. I honestly know nothing about this besides it’s a thrilling mystery written in the style of a podcast. So you can bet I will be listening to the audiobook for this one!

Lastly we have Immortal Longings which is the first book in Chloe Gong’s newest series. Have I actually gotten to any of her other series yet? No. Am I still keen for this? Yes. This features a competition which is a trope I love in Fantasy. Our MC, Calla, wants to remove her uncle from the throne and to do that she enters this competition which would grant her access to her uncle. She also makes a questionable alliance with her cousin & her fiercest competitor in the game.

Thanks for reading! Eliza
