This book has been on my radar since it released. Firstly, the cover is just stunning but I also found the synopsis really intriguing! So I had to give it a go.

Starting off with the magic system and world building which was easily my favourite part. I loved learning about the artefacts/abilities and how everything worked. I do wish we could have learnt what more of the artefacts could do though as we really only got information for a hand full of them.

As for the plot, I had a small issue. Don’t get me wrong the plot was good overall and it had me interested the whole time. Though at times I felt like the beginning was a little dragging out and then the climax felt very rushed in my opinion. Slowing down and adding a bit more detail I think would have benefitted a lot.

I really enjoyed the characters we got to know, even if there was only a couple. Which I know why that is the case but I wish we got to know a few more people a bit better. At times, certain characters actions didn’t fully make sense because we just didn’t know them well enough to understand. My main is character wise though was actually the romance. I really didn’t feel the connection between the characters. For the most part it kind of felt a little forced, especially from the MCs side. For the love interests side I could see it a bit more but for the MC it was kind of flat.

Overall I really enjoy the book and if the author ever came out with a second book or a companion in this world I would definitely read it as I found the world & magic system really interesting. I definitely recommend checking it out if you love fantasy and especially if you love fantasy with a hint of mystery.

Thanks for reading! Eliza
