TBR to break the Reading Slump! 🤞🏻

I have been in a massive reading slump since mid June. Easily one of the worst ones I’ve ever experienced. To the point where I didn’t feel like blogging, filming videos or even consuming bookish content from other creators. It’s hit me like a tonne of bricks but I think I’m finally making some progress! And I felt like writing a blog post! So that is progress. Here is my TBR for September that I’m hoping will break my out of the reading jail!

Currently Reading

This will be all the books I’m currently reading. I have a few more than usual as during the slump I was picking up things hoping to find something that will peak my interest!

I was reading All That’s Left in the World when I fell into the slump. I was enjoying it but only got about 100 pages in. I’ve finally gotten back to this one and read a couple chapters last night. So hopefully I can finish this one soon.

Wild is the Witch is one I received in the mail after pre-ordering and I decided to pick it up straight away. It’s one of my most anticipated releases of the year so I was hoping it would break the slump but alas. I only got a few pages read. I am super keen for this one though! Rachel Griffin’s debut The Nature of Witches was one of my favourites from last year so I’m very keen to see what else she creates!

Then on eBook I was reading Revenge. This is one I saw recommended on TikTok multiple times so decided to give it ago as it was available on Scribd. I was reading bits and pieces here and there but it hasn’t really gripped my attention fully. I’m 28% in and debating if I should DNF. I’m not sure if it wan’t gripping me because of the slump or the actual book. So we will see. It might be one I pick up on audiobook at some point if it’s available.

Because I wasn’t feeling Revenge I decided to find another eBook and landed on See All the Stars which is another highly anticipated for me. I read I Killed Zoe Spanos by Kit Frick last year and while at the time I thought it was good but not mind blowing it was a book that has stuck with me for months afterwards. I found myself thinking about it often so it obviously left an impact. I only read a few pages but I’m keen to continue at some point.

Lastly is the audiobook I’m currently listening to! I decided a reread of a fave, The Inheritance Games, would be a good idea. I had the intention to reread this one anyway as I wanted a refresh of books 1 & 2 before picking up book 3 which recently released! So far, so good as I’m about half way through and going strong!

Audiobook TBR

As mentioned above I plan on rereading The Hawthorne Legacy and then moving onto The Final Gambit which I’m very keen for.

Then I have The Blood Traitor which I haven’t quite decide if I will read this physically or audiobook. I also haven’t decided if I want to reread the first two books. It will just depend how much I can remember when I go to actually pick this one up!

Then I have Gearbreakers which I planned on reading during Pride Month but didn’t get to because of the slump.

Then I have Cyber Mage which I had seen mentioned a few times on TikTok and it peaked my interest. It was on Scribd so I thought why not?!

Physical TBR

This is ambitious of course but I’m also a mood reader. So there is a chance I won’t even pick up any of these but oh well! It is what it is.

All of these are ones I have picked up recently. I think when trying to get out a slump that it’s a good idea to go for newer books rather than ones I’ve been looking at sitting on my shelf for a while. So I have Forging Silver into Stars which is one of my anticipated releases as I have loved everything else I have read by Brigid Kemmerer. The Darkening, The Final Strife & Hidden Pictures which I didn’t know anything about until seeing them at the book shop and reading the blurb and being intrigued! Then lastly The Stardust Thief which I recently got in a subscription box and it sounds incredible. So I’m keen!

Graphic Novel TBR

Ronin Islands, Wytches, Wynd & Deadly Class are all ones I have found on Scribd that sound interesting. Lore Olympus I have seen mentioned around BookTok & BookTube and I found Vol 1 & 2 at Big W for a good price so decided to give them a go.
