I have decided to do a series on my channel with recommendations from different genre’s and I’m calling it Top 8 (apparently Top 10 is too main stream 🤷🏻♀️). So here is the first post in this series!
1. The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

The Inheritance Games was completely unpredictable & very mysterious! The characters were very well written and everything including the characters had so much depth! It was also very atmospheric & I had so much fun reading this one! Highly recommend.
This one is book 1 in a new series but I feel like it could easily be read as a standalone as well.
2. The Extraordinary Adventures of the Athena Club by Theodora Goss!
This series is extremely unique, very action packed and features an amazing group of badass female characters. I adore this series and it’s characters so much. It is definitely not talked about enough though, so I had to feature it in this list! If you are looking for an interesting mysterious series that also has fantasy elements and awesome female characters, then this is the book for you!
3. Jackaby by William Ritter
Jackaby is an amazing YA Mystery with Fantasy elements which is my favourite combo! I love Jackaby as a character and I also loved following Abigail’s POV in this one!

4. Even If We Break by Marieke Nijkamp
This is an amazing YA Thriller which starts off in a very unique way. I loved how gripping this one was and I can’t wait to read more by this author!
5. Misfit City by Kirsten Smith, Kurt Lustgarten & Naomi Franquiz
Misfit City is a super fun mystery graphic novel series with 2 volumes. This has an awesome setting, badass diverse characters and an eerie vibe. I highly recommend checking out Misfit City!

6. All Your Twisted Secrets by Diana Urban
Oh my god! This was incredible! I had no idea what to expect with this one. I hadn’t heard anything about it and picked it up on a whim as the cover looked intriguing and I saw that it was a mystery/thriller which I was on the hunt for at the time. I was blown away and the reveal was so unpredictable I had to put the book down & think about it before continuing.
7. Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson
Is this my favourite on this list? Hell yeah! I absolutely adore the Truly Devious series. The writing is incredible. The characters are unique, interested & diverse. The story is unpredictable and sometimes shocking! I just love it! I’ve reread it multiple times & will definitely be doing another reread soon in preparation for book 4!

8. One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus
While I did prefer One of Us is Lying compared to One of Us is Next I do highly recommend reading them both! One of Us is Lying was mysterious & suspenseful. I had trouble putting it down and the mystery element was very engaging. I highly recommend!
