Okay, I did miss a week because on BookTubeAThon but I’m here for my second The ABC Challenge!

For this challenge, every week you make a post talking about the best books you’ve read and the ones you are keen for on your TBR that start with a specific letter.
So this week I will be doing the letter B. I will not be including the word ‘The’ as the first word.

Beneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire

This is the 3rd book in the Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire. I can’t talk about this one too much as it’s the 3rd book but this series is just so interesting and book 3 is my favourite. The Wayward Children Series is about children that return to the real world after travelling into a portal fantasy world (e.g. Alice In Wonderland & Narnia). These are companion books, so I will briefly talk about how they are related. Firstly, book 1, Every Heart A Doorway is set in the real world at a ‘school’ for the children that return to the real world after going to their portal world. This book is more of a murder mystery than anything else. Book 2, Down Among the Sticks and Bones follows two characters from Book 1 and it takes place before Book 1 while these characters were in their world. Book 3 follows the daughter of a character from Book 1. I loved Book 3 the most because it was more adventurous and we get to experience more than just the one world or the real world.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

I love World War II Historical Fiction books and this is no exception. I love how unique this book is. Firstly it is narrated by death, which makes for a really unique reading experience. Also that we follow a young girl makes for an interesting experience too as most World War II books I’ve read are from people in there late teens or adults. This book is upsetting and powerful and I loved it. I really need to reread this one!

Before She Ignites by Jodi Meadows

Young Adult Fantasy with Dragons? Yes, please! This book does not have a tonne of plot so it feels more character driven. The world is really interesting and this book really builds up for book 2 and I can’t wait for book 2 which I have already pre-ordered!

Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater

This is book 3 in The Raven Cycle series but I don’t think I really need to explain this series. I love this whole series! I don’t really know which book is my favourite out of this series as I love them all but Blue Lily, Lily Blue would be one of the top ones I think.

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

This is an interesting dystopian book. The only thing I don’t like in this book was the romance, I enjoyed the main character and the plot and world are really interesting! It’s been a while since I read this and I want to reread it as I know I really enjoyed it but I can’t remember enough of it. So I am hoping to reread this book and book 2, The Mime Order and then I can finally continue onto The Song Rising. However, I don’t want to just yet as there are still 4 books to come out in this series, the next one is set to release next year and the last book, book 7 in 2021.

Beyond the Night by Alexandra Bracken

This is a novella in The Darkest Minds series. This one comes between In the Afterlight & The Darkest Legacy. I really enjoyed this little extra info and this one builds on what we find out in the novella Sparks Rise which comes between Never Fade & In the Afterlight. I really enjoyed this series so I love this extra little bit we get!

  1. I’ve read The Book Thief and Blue Lily, Lily Blue; both 5 star reads 🙂 The Raven Cycle is one of my favorite series. I’ve read Every Heart a Doorway and I enjoyed it, but for some reason I can’t convince myself to continue the series. Hopefully I eventually will~

    1. It’s really good. But I feel like it’s one of those books that you either love or hate. I personally loved it but I know a fair few people that didn’t enjoy it because of its slower pace and more character driven feel.
