It’s June already! Well it is tomorrow anyway! I’m writing this on the last day of May while watching State of Origin, pretty sure we are going to lose as its Qld 4 – 24 NSW at 60min in.. And as writing this NSW just scored another try… Yeah not our game today, hopefully we can come back in the next two!

Anyway, onto the books I want to read! These are all books I own!

I’m only putting 5 books on my TBR but hopefully I will get to more than that! I will be participating in the Summer Bookish Bingo and the challenges for that may have a impact on which books I read but because the Bingo card hasn’t been posted by the creator yet I don’t know what the challenges are. But I definitely want to get to Caraval! I also want to read Geekerella next to break up all the fantasy reads!

And that is all for this post! Hopefully I will continue to have good reading months!

Blog Titles (31)

I have basically just been re-listening to these books while bored and before bed.

Blog Titles (32)

I’m currently reading the Complete Maus, I have put in my Read books Volume I as I have finished that half of the book. So I only actually have Volume II to read.

Blog Titles (33)

Currently listening and loving! This is taking me longer to listen to simply because the usual audiobooks I read are Harry Potter which I can have playing while doing other things like blogging and because I know the story so well if I’m not concentrating for a little while it’s fine because I still know exactly what is going on. But with this book when I’m listening I am concentrating my whole attention on it and also following along with the book. So I’m limited to when I can listen to it. I’m 75% through so it won’t be too much longer.

Well that is it for this month! I read a total of 7 books, 1 graphic novel and 3 audiobooks. I also DNFd a book this month. I did still write a review and explained why I stopped reading it so be sure to check that out if you’re curious!

May 2017 Haul

Header Image (38)

Okay so I got a lot of books and bookish goodies this month! A fair bit of it was purchased in March or April but didn’t arrive till this month! So I’m going to get straight into it!

Blog Titles (44)

So first I’m starting with 6 books that I got from

All these books are in pretty good condition for second hand books. There is only slight denting on the covers purely from being in bookshelves! Shiver has a slight tear in it, but that is the only real damage to these books. I’m so happy with this purchase! I will be buying from them again in the future! If you use the link above you can receive a 15% off coupon and I may receive discounts if you use it!

So I read Strange the Dreamer prior to buying a copy but because I loved it so damn much and the cover is just so beautiful I just had to get a copy! You can find my spoiler free review HERE!
I also got a copy of Caraval, I actually got the other edition which I can’t find a decent photo of but its the one in my picture above of all the books I bought. And the hardcover I got was the carnival tent.

I bought these two books while I was away!

So Maus is the first ever Graphic Novel I have purchased and am currently reading it!
I have read That Hate U Give already and you can find my spoiler free review HERE!

Blog Titles (45)

These are both books I received as eGalleys. I don’t actually remember if I got these in April or May but as I didn’t do a April Haul,  as I didn’t purchase anything, I’m adding them here.

Blog Titles (46)

Blog Titles (47)

Demiguise (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Jack Sparrow (Dead Men Tell No Tales) & Alice Kingsleigh (Alice Through the Looking Glass).

All the bookmarks in the pic are from In A Paper Forest! Also find her on Instagram HERE!

I also received two others bookmarks today from Behind the Pages (they have removed their store from etsy, so I can’t link it) and as I took that pic last night they aren’t in the pic. Pics below of the ones I got! I was kinda annoyed with this product. Well not really the product, more the company. I ordered these on the 24th of April! and they didn’t ship till the 25th of MAY! I received no notification or email saying there would be delayed shipping and on the etsy Shop Note it says ‘All orders take up to 5 business days to dispatch’ which was obviously a complete lie! Also they were packaged by themselves in a plastic sleeve in a bubble wrap shipping bag. And of course they got bent up! There was no message on the actual bag saying ‘do not bend’ so it go bent.. The least they could do it chuck in a piece of cardboard if they are going to use those packing bags so they are less likely to get bent or an ever easier option would be a plain envelope with a note saying ‘do not bend’ as that is how all the other bookmarks I have bought have been packaged and not one of them was damaged! And it would be cheaper for them to buy a pack of bulk envelopes then it would to buy those bubble wrap bags!

Anyway, bit of rant over!

I bought 2 of the 6oz candles from Novel Scents + Co. I got two candles inspired by The Raven Cycle series, Cabeswater & Gansey. Cabeswater smells of Amazon Lily, Rain and Earth & Gansey smells of Green Tea, Lemongrass and Mint. The only thing I don’t like about these candles is that they don’t have the scents on the packaging of the candle, so I keep having to go check the etsy store to see what the scents are. As 3 people have asked what the Gansey one smells like and I can’t remember anything but the mint!

The other candle was from a subscription box, it is made by Kozy Korner Boutique on etsy. You can’t purchase this exact candle on their shop so I’m assuming it was limited to the subscription box only.

Blog Titles (48)

So after I read my eGalley of Flame in the Mist I received a copy in May’s The YA Chronicle Subscription Box. So that was fun, I didn’t love that book, so I would have liked getting a new book instead, but I do think the cover is beautiful, so it’s not too bad.

Well I think that is all I got this month!

Top Ten Tuesday – Anticipated Books for the Second Half of 2017

Header Image (37)

Top Ten Tuesday is a monthly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and you can find all the info and upcoming prompts Here.

This week’s prompts is: Top Ten Most Anticipated Books For The Second Half of 2017

Well I don’t know if I have 10, so I’ll just put as many as I have

1. One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake

I have read Three Dark Crowns and really enjoyed it! So I’m keen to get to the second/last book in the series! This one comes out in September.

2. The Becoming of Noah Shaw by Michelle Hodkin

This is the first book in a new companion series to the Mara Dyer series. I hope to get to the Mara Dyer series soon and then if I enjoy it as much as I hope then I will go straight onto this series when it comes out in November.

3. Whichwood by Tahereh Mafi

This is another companion book, this one to the book Futhermore by Tahereh Mafi. I also plan to read Furthermore very soon as it has been on my radar for a while and I’m keen to get to it once I get my current physical TBR down a bit more! At the moment I can’t fit anymore books on my TBR shelves! This one is released in August.

4. Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo

I have only read one book from Leigh Bardugo and that was Shadow and Bone, the first book in the Grisha trilogy! I loved Leigh Bardugo’s writing and I’m interested to see what’s next for her away from the Grisha world! This one is released in August.

Well that is all I have! I haven’t been paying attention to new releases as much this year as last year. There is sooo many books that aren’t new releases that I really want to get to! So I haven’t been checking out tonnes of new releases! There was some I couldn’t stay away from like The Hate U Give, A Court of Wings and Ruin, Caraval, etc. But overall concentrating on older books.

Down the TBR Hole #6

Header Image (36)

This meme is hosted by Lia @ Lost in a Story.

Here is what you do:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

I’m bumping it up to 10 books per post instead of 5 this week, I may continue this but it will just depend on how I feel that day.

Blog Titles (16)

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson

Honestly I will probably never actually get to this book. I have read The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson and I really enjoy it, but just in all honestly I probably won’t get to this one as I’m more likely to pick up a Fantasy book than this!

Verdict: DELETE

Exit, Pursued by a Bear by E.K. Johnston

This book is honestly only on my TBR list because of Hailey from Hailey in Bookland on YouTube. I know nothing about it, so here it goes to read the synopsis! So reading the synopsis this book does sound interesting and it sounds like it deals with a difficult topic (Trigger warning for RAPE). This is a book I want to read for those reasons, I just don’t know when I will get to it.

Verdict: KEEP

The Dead of Night by John Marsden

So this is the second book in the Tomorrow When the War Began series! I absolutely love the first book and really want to continue the series, just haven’t got to it yet!

Verdict: KEEP

The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

So I just read the synopsis and this book sounds so interesting! It sounds like a book that has a awesome female main character discovering herself! A dystopian type world and magic! And also as far as I can see in the synopsis there isn’t romance which if that is the case in the book that would be awesome as I feel like most books have a main romance that is a major part and I would like to read something that chills on the romance, especially a Fantasy that does that!

Verdict: KEEP

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

So this book shouldn’t be read before reading both The Mortal Instruments series & The Infernal Devices series. I have only read 2 books of the TMI series, so I am a fair way away from getting to this book as I don’t really know if I want to finish that series yet!

Verdict: DELETE

The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski

This book sounds interesting but I also don’t really know what’s meant to happen. The synopsis doesn’t really tell much, so I don’t really know about this book actually. I hear it mentioned occasionally on BookTube but I also feel like I haven’t really seen it as anyones absolute favourite! I think this is a book I can let go of.

Verdict: DELETE

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

So I’m not actually going to read the synopsis as I want to go in knowing very little. But I want to finish the Grisha trilogy first even though people have said you can read Six of Crows with out having read Grisha. But that’s the way I want to do it! I really enjoyed the first book of the Grisha trilogy, Shadow and Bone so I do want to continue the series and then jump into the Six of Crows duology!

Verdict: KEEP

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken

So this book does sound interesting but I also know that there is many people that either love or hate this book and it’s one of those books that I want to try for myself to find out which side I’m on!

Verdict: KEEP

Reign of Shadows by Sophie Jordan

24657660 (1)

So this book is a YA Romance with a kind of fantasy vibe. But mainly just romance it seems. And this also has a slight Rapunzel retelling hint to it as well. I honestly don’t think I will read this though, if the focus was on fantasy and a bit of romance with that then yeah sure! But a book focused on romance is just not my thing!

Verdict: DELETE

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Okay so if you have been living under a rock, Rainbow Rowell has a book called fangirl which is ultimately about someone that writes fanfiction for this fantasy series that is in that world. So then she wrote the book that the fanfiction was based on.

I haven’t read Fangirl and probably won’t but I feel like this can be read without reading Fangirl. So if you have read these then let me know if this can be read without having read fangirl. I’m pretty sure it could, but I’m curious!

Verdict: KEEP

Well I deleted 4 out of 10 and I’m pretty happy with that! And that is all for this week!

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas – Spoiler Free Review

Review Header Image (8)

Title: A Court of Mist and Fury
Sarah J. Maas
Series Name: A Court of Thorns and Roses
Genre: NA Fantasy Romance
Publication Date: May 3rd, 2016
Pages: 624 (paperback)
Publishers: Bloomsbury Children’s
5 Star

Blog Titles

Feyre is immortal.

After rescuing her lover Tamlin from a wicked Faerie Queen, she returns to the Spring Court possessing the powers of the High Fae. But Feyre cannot forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin’s people – nor the bargain she made with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court.

As Feyre is drawn ever deeper into Rhysand’s dark web of politics and passion, war is looming and an evil far greater than any queen threatens to destroy everything Feyre has fought for. She must confront her past, embrace her gifts and decide her fate.

She must surrender her heart to heal a world torn in two.

I honestly don’t know if I should give this book 4 and a half star or 5 stars! I honestly think the hype is a little excessive so that’s why I kinda feel like taking a half star off but to be honest there isn’t any faults that I can find in these books. But I’m still not utterly obsessed with everything about it like most people seem to be!

You can find my review of A Court of Thorns and Roses HERE! Check it out first as I will be referencing it in this review!

Blog Titles (1)

So again I like the use of both matte and shiny parts to make the cover a bit more interesting! The cover itself is nice. What I don’t like is that on my edition the silver on the vines is flaking off! It had started doing this before I even started reading the book! It was fine when I received it in the mail and it had only been sitting on my bookshelf since, until I picked it up to read it and now that I have been reading for a couple days it is flaking off all over the place! I know that it doesn’t have much to do with the Art itself but that does piss me off!

Blog Titles (2)

So I still have the same opinion about the writing as I did for the first book. I still don’t fully understand the map to the right of Prythian as no one in the story has mentioned it except Vallahan at the north of the map.. So I just don’t it! Explain someone if you know!

Blog Titles (3)

So, I really enjoyed the plot of this book! It was FULL of twists and turns and a majority of them I did not guess was coming! Especially that ending! Everything that happened in this book was just intense and full on!

Blog Titles (4)

This next section could be little spoilery, so if you haven’t read ACOMAF then I wouldn’t suggest reading this next bit and just skip to the overall heading!

I don’t have much to say in this section to be honest! I have grown to really enjoy Cassian, Azriel, Mor & Amren! Out of all of them Cassian is my favourite out of Rhys’s inner circle! I’m just want to slap Lucien for doing what he is told rather than what is right. I want to punch Tamlin and tell him to wake the hell up and realise how much of a twat he is acting like. I grew to enjoy Nesta and Elain and I’m keen to see what comes next for them. Rhys is an amazing character I love how he will do anything for his court and does the right thing by all of his people and Feyre! Sometimes Feyre does irritate me a little, but overall I enjoy her character. I also enjoy that she always tries to do what is right for the people around her! And I kinda wish I had her water/animal power, that is awesome!

Blog Titles (5)

So overall I really enjoyed this book! I enjoyed it a little more than ACOTAR! I tried to avoid spoilers as much as I could for this book and for ACOWAR but it’s so hard as there is slight spoilers everywhere! I’m especially avoiding pinterest until finishing ACOWAR as I have nearly been spoiled a couple times on that app in the last couple weeks! I have a ACOTAR board so I have followed other ACOTAR boards so it’s hard to avoid!

Now starting ACOWAR! Kinda love but also kinda hate the 700 pages haha. But I will get there!

Larger Heading titles

Because I’ll be doing them every Sunday, I am only going to tag 2 people in each so I’m not tagging the same people all the time! So each week I will tag my latest 2 followers! These will also be only followers that I follow back as well as there is no point in tagging someone I don’t follow.

So I have only 1 person that has followed that I followed back. There was others but they simply weren’t bookish blogs and I don’t follow back.. So only 1!

Wonderful Worlds 101

Scratch that above little bit! I just had someone new follow me that I hav followed back just after this post went live! So I’m adding them to who I tagged for this weeks Tag a Sunday!

The Suffering Tree by Elle Cosimano

Publishers: Disney-Hyperion

Goodreads Synopsis:

“It’s dark magic brings him back.”

Tori Burns and her family left D.C. for claustrophobic Chaptico, Maryland, after suddenly inheriting a house under mysterious circumstances. Nathaniel Bishop may not understand what brought him back, but it’s clear to Tori that he hates the Slaughters for what they did to him centuries ago. Wary yet drawn to him by a shared sense of loss, she gives him shelter. But in the wake of his arrival comes a string of troubling events—including the disappearance of Jesse Slaughter’s cousin—that seem to point back to Nathaniel.

As Tori digs for the truth—and slowly begins to fall for Nathaniel—she uncovers something much darker in the tangled branches of the Slaughter family tree. In order to break the centuries-old curse that binds Nathaniel there and discover the true nature of her inheritance, Tori must unravel the Slaughter family’s oldest and most guarded secrets. But the Slaughters want to keep them buried… at any cost.

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee

Henry “Monty” Montague was born and bred to be a gentleman, but he was never one to be tamed. The finest boarding schools in England and the constant disapproval of his father haven’t been able to curb any of his roguish passions—not for gambling halls, late nights spent with a bottle of spirits, or waking up in the arms of women or men.

But as Monty embarks on his grand tour of Europe, his quest for a life filled with pleasure and vice is in danger of coming to an end. Not only does his father expect him to take over the family’s estate upon his return, but Monty is also nursing an impossible crush on his best friend and traveling companion, Percy.

Still it isn’t in Monty’s nature to give up. Even with his younger sister, Felicity, in tow, he vows to make this yearlong escapade one last hedonistic hurrah and flirt with Percy from Paris to Rome. But when one of Monty’s reckless decisions turns their trip abroad into a harrowing manhunt that spans across Europe, it calls into question everything he knows, including his relationship with the boy he adores.

Witty, romantic, and intriguing at every turn, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue is a sumptuous romp that explores the undeniably fine lines between friendship and love.

Tilla secretly longs to sit by her father’s side, resplendent in a sparkling gown, enjoying feasts with the rest of the family. Instead, she sits with the other bastards, like Miles of House Hampstedt, an awkward scholar who’s been in love with Tilla since they were children.

Then, at a feast honoring the visiting princess Lyriana, the royal shocks everyone by choosing to sit at the Bastards’ Table. Before she knows it, Tilla is leading the sheltered princess on a late-night escapade. Along with Jax, Miles, and fellow bastard Zell, a Zitochi warrior from the north, they stumble upon a crime they were never meant to witness.

Rebellion is brewing in the west, and a brutal coup leaves Lyriana’s uncle, the Royal Archmagus, dead—with Lyriana next on the list. The group flees for their lives, relentlessly pursued by murderous mercenaries; their own parents have put a price on their heads to prevent the king and his powerful Royal Mages from discovering their treachery.

The bastards band together, realizing they alone have the power to prevent a civil war that will tear their kingdom apart—if they can warn the king in time. And if they can survive the journey . . .

What Lada needs is her younger brother Radu’s subtlety and skill. But Mehmed has sent him to Constantinople—and it’s no diplomatic mission. Mehmed wants control of the city, and Radu has earned an unwanted place as a double-crossing spy behind enemy lines. Radu longs for his sister’s fierce confidence—but for the first time in his life, he rejects her unexpected plea for help. Torn between loyalties to faith, to the Ottomans, and to Mehmed, he knows he owes Lada nothing. If she dies, he could never forgive himself—but if he fails in Constantinople, will Mehmed ever forgive him?

As nations fall around them, the Dracul siblings must decide: what will they sacrifice to fulfill their destinies? Empires will topple, thrones will be won . . . and souls will be lost.

I haven’t started either of the series The Conqueror’s Saga or Monsters of Verity Duology but I hope to soon!

What are you looking forward to most in June?!

This week’s prompt is: Freebie week. Today you can choose whatever you want either it is a book you’ve been wanting to talk for a long time or one of the previous themes
